• Yep it will be fine. Just make sure you get a chainring designed for single speed use and it should be fine. Mind you, this was all on a 9 speed setup. Could be an issue for say 11speed which use a wider cassette

  • Turns out its not always the BB30 that's creaking, the SuperSix died.

Carbon frame repair quoted me £210 - £240 for the fix, so I'm going to pull the trigger on a Hong fu FM066 SL. The frame was quoted at $630.

  • Do it; they are lovely. I am selling mine but its midget sized. If you are getting it painted explicitly mention not to paint the seatpost.

  • Ha! Good to know, I quite like the boring black.

  • And don't go for vomit coloured.

  • my vomit is a bit towards yellow ;)

  • No going back now, pulled the trigger on the FM066 SL.

  • How much in the end?

  • For frame, fork, two bottle cages and delivery it came to just over £500.

  • Pair of wheels just arrived at work. Box pretty severely damaged. Didn't open but the brake track was scuffed badly and a spoke had been ripped out, rim was basically fucked.

Refused the package and they said they'd return to seller. Gonna email my guy now to let him know the bad news.

Anyone got experience of this? Any other action to be taken? Claim with parcelforce or ems etc?

I'm tempted to go for a little cry

  • Normally it'd be the seller's responsibility to claim, as per SoGA, but I'm not sure how you'd make that happen with a non-EU seller.

  • Just got this from the seller.

"We will contact the shipper tomorrow(it is night time here right now)
and get back to you tomorrow
dont worry, you will get good wheelset.
    best regards"

    Cheers @Emyr
    Will update in due course.

  • Force them to ship with 'express' - 3 day shipping and better taken care of possibly. They normally charge 80 squid for the premium.

  • Once it is all worked out I will definitely look to get them to send it as fast as possible and wrap it better...... and tell any forklift trucks to fuck off

  • What you doing with the frame?

  • If you're talking about the FM066 SL , put these parts on. If you're talking about the (not so) SuperSix, then possibly sell off to a a fair price for somebody looking to fix.

  • Was talking about the supersix.

I think you've convinced me that I'm going to pull the trigger on one of these in the new year to replace the Nanolight. @amey can they do any colour?

  • So you'll be selling the nanolight? Any pics?

  • The Nanolight builds into a seriously light bike

That setup was actually around 6.6kg without pedals

  • I would be very interested.

  • Nanogate!

  • Any Pantone yes.

  • "Can you accept the parcel first,
and after that, tell how is the rim , and we will send you replace rim
because we find out cost some money for return
we can send you replace rim,and pay for the rebuilt fee
    what do you think
if send back, have to wait long time.
    best regards"

So got this from my guy. I didn't even open the package, looked at the hole and damage and just refused to take it and they took it away. Don't even know if it was just one rim damaged, could've been both. Or how I would go about getting the parcel back.

I'm thinking suck it up and just wait and get them to pickup the tab for sending it back. They obvs want to cannibalise the working parts, either through me or when it arrives back in China. If I open the package and a hub is cracked or both rims broken it is potentially going to A) be agro to show/convince them and B) might end up taking as long as just waiting for the return and rebuild.

    Any thoughts welcome.

  • I wouldn't be keen on accepting damaged goods and relying on the seller for a no-hassle replacement and repair: lots of scope for disagreement about what does/doesn't need doing. By refusing them, the situation is quite clear: refund or replace.

As you've already rejected the parcel, it should be on its way back by now and (as you say) it's not clear how/if you could get it back.

Just explain this to the seller, so part replacement and costs isn't an option.
