Smallfurry - which were the aero rims that you bought? The toroidal ones?
Yeah. 56mm deep, and over 27mm wide at the widest point.
Second pair built up now. They are well finished, light, easy to build with, and seem to have plenty of lateral stiffness. I've ridden them in horrible coastal winds, and they behave brilliantly.
When I'm next in the wind tunnel. I'll let you know if they are actually aero.
Tried to convince my mate to buy a 86mm, and a 40mm. So, as a climber, he could have a 56/40 wheelset, and I could have a 86/56 wheelset, with a powertap rear. Could'nt really sell him my heavily dremeled rear hub though.

Do you recall the farsports number for them
I'm about to ask them for a quote for a bild using the novatech disc hubs

I'd recommend DT swiss super competition spokes for a disc brake wheel. A bit thicker by the hub, and a bit thinner by the rim. Even used them on my fat bike.

I really want a pair of the 20mm tubulars- how many spokes would be needed to keep my 76.6kg from breaking them?
I'd be tempted to go 28R/24F. Thats probably the lower limit though.
You could also beef up the spokes. What's the difference in strength between something like cx-ray's and Alpine III's?
I guess you've also got to consider what the max tension you can get away with on whatever rims you're considering.

Whatever it is, it's not really relevant. 16 CX-Rays are strong enough for a front wheel. Using stiffer spokes with low height rims probably makes their problem - too little radial stiffness in the rim - worse, by forcing higher stress concentration, rather than letting the spokes stretch to force rim deflection to spread the asymmetric loads across more spokes.
Anyway, 76kg whippets need not worry too much. My 24mm deep RS80s with just 16 spokes up front seem fine for moderate off road use under my near 100kg body.

What happen with your relationship with Kinoko Cycles? have you gone off them or something?
Is it "complicated"?
