Then you should probably go for a 56 Pre cursa.

I know hong fu are now doing a carbon track frame that doesn't have that weird aero look to it and is similar to the seta, I would go for one of those

My chinacrabon wheels have been in the UK for 6 days now (they only took 5 days to get there from China). Just tell me what the customs charges are and send the fuckers to me!

I've been able to get to the Parcelforce depot and pay the fee before the letter even arrived. If you can get the tracking number and then confirm the depot its at they are usually ok to let you have it with ID

I'll do some tomorrow. They seem immaculate though. Clean drilling, and perfectly smooth finish.

Got a bit excited last night, and dismantled my old front, and built up this new one (bed at 01:30, silly billy).
Obviously difficult to get a good image of the profile. But the center section of the profile is definitely a touch wider than the brake track (supposed to be 2.5mm wider) . Which its self is going to be 3.0mm wider than my tubs. Not sure how thats going to look glued up (the glue surface is 20.5mm). But the firecrests are designed with 22mm tubs in mind. So I guess it must work.

If I made some wheels out of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330839799550?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649...will I die?
20mm of budget carbon makes me a little nervous.
I'm about 10 stone. -

My cheap carbon rear is now only good as a turbo rim. My front shouldn't even be able to hold a tyre. Does, but I'm not riding it regardless. That's after one long descent. I'd go tubs, or get a better braking surface.

Cool, thanks.
Wanted them to match the 20mm deep omega v's I have on the track bike, but without getting ugly brake-wear after a few months.
I will probably just get another set of Omegas for the road bike and deal with it like a man. -
• #2197
No problem going 20mm, just use enough spokes. Carbon clinchers are suspect unless the braking surface is a high temp resin. IMHO

Here are my latest crabon fibber wheels (with apologies in advance for the crapiness of the photo:
Powertap SL+ rear hub, CycleOps front hub, FarSports FSL-50CM rims and, as ever, CX-Ray spokes. I've only ridden them once, but so far they appear to be reasonably light, reasonably aero, and they haven't exploded yet. Which is nice.

Can't find it now, but I read on Velonews (I think) comments from various companies that short+sharp burst of braking, as opposed to long drags, are a lot better for carbon rims. Just thought that might be useful info for people worried about their rims.
SF, have you retired your rear wheel because of what happened to the front? Or has something similar happened to the back too?

Braking that way is better for most rims. Don't give them a chance to heat up. Don't wear down your pads unnecessarily. Scrub water if it's wet.
nah, you need a 52 for this height. havent we told you already?
