Just got 38mm tubular wheels from far sports delivered, waiting to be glued up and ridden. got some discounted challenge criterium tubs from PX to dress them.
something ridiculous like 1160g a set, should be quite a change from my fulcrums.

do novatec make good quality track hubs? If not what is a good set of track hubs that is not too pricey or heavy? Except miche, cant/dont want to deal with italian threaded stuff.

^ Yes, for a given definition of good.
I believe they are seen as a step up in quality from Formula etc etc, using better bearings.

I like mine.

Just ordered my rims.
Recieved my nipples, washers, and valve extenders yesterday.
Ordered some lightweight spokes on Wednesday. The idea is to build a stiff, and aero wheelset, that I wont mind taking into the mountains. They are 8mm deeper than the rims being replaced, and probably 7mm wider (firecrest copies). Yet they come in 80g lighter (have moved from clinchers to tubs).
Thinking of getting a 22mm tub for the front, and a 24mm for the rear.
Front.
Laced 20 x radial.
Hub - Tune Mig70 - 75g
Spokes - CN Aero 360 - 71g
Rim - 56mm deep, 27mm wide tubular - 420g
Nipples - Pillar hex head alu - 6g
572gRear.
Laced 8 x 1 cross NDS, and 16 x 3 cross DS.
Hub - Tune Mag180 - 185g
Spokes - CN Aero 424 - 98g
Rim - 56mm deep, 27mm wide tubular - 420g
Nipples - Pillar hex head alu - 8g
711gTotal = 1283g

excuse my ignorance but just searched 'novatec track hubs' on ebay and that returned nothing (nothing good atleast) so what is the source for this? Need it fixed/free.

Good enough for everybody without their own hub factory to put their name to. By the time you need hubs better than Novatec, you won't be buying your own and you won't be using wire spoked wheels.

^ not for me, sourcing for missus' SS build. Dont want to spend a lot but still want light :P

What's wrong with those? They are exactly the same A165-SB-T/A166-SB-T sold elsewhere as Novatec, System-X, On-One, SJSC etc.

^ no nothing wrong as such, but wasn't sure if they were genuine or not, they are not explicitly branded like their road hubs. In that case I'll just get them from on-one/planet x.

wasn't sure if they were genuine or not,
Nobody in their right mind would fake Novatec track hubs, it would cost more than just buying them from Joy Industries.

keep in mind system ex/formula/blb whatetver are different from novatec/on-one, both in body and weight, the cones and locknuts are different as well - they feel beefier (read heavier) also.

Sure. The 56mm are quite new. But they are on the site now. They come in 40mm, 56mm, and 86mm depths.
The braking surface is that funky basalt stuff.
Bare in mind the clinchers are way heavier than the tubs. More than I'd usually expect.
Cant get the site to work.
AR56-T on here.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago:
It arrived in one piece with an import fee (including ParcelFarce's ridiculous costs) of only £37...
Really nice quality with great little touches like a bb guide big enough for internal hydraulics and cable route entries and exits are covered by plastic vanity covers held on by allen bolts to hide a larger cutout, making it much easier to guide your own cables.
Would definitely recommend...

Will be interested to see how you get on with that. About £300 all in?
-

Just over i think (exchange rate has changed since i bought it). I think about £330.

I'll follow your thread - might get one for the other half if all goes well.

How much will the wheelset cost you, if you don't mind me asking?

Can't remember what the hubs cost. Bought them from Hibike.de.
Rims were $395 delivered. Spokes $80 delivered,
Buy rims and hubs separately? e.g. Silver Novatecs
