• I will take a photo when I get home. Gatorskin tub has proved to be excellent, no problems at all (I realised it was running at quite a low PSI too) and it makes quite a pleasing sound.

For anyone who hasn't seen said wheel

  • What pads are you using?

  • Swiss Stop Yellow, not bad, but i found out my LBS can get Reynolds Blue cheaper so I might try them when these die.

  • I'm using the Reynolds Blue, been excellent so far.

  • The Zipp decaled wheel?

  • yus

  • what do u mean by flaking?

  • The breaking surface has flaked off a bit

  • carbon flakes of the lacquer?

  • the lacquered surface is fine it was right at the top of the breaking surface by the tub

  • Rosmal- that price is a single rim, so total cost would be $255 unless we can get your rim in another box.

    Sheeit.
Dang, hoping that wouldn't be the case.
Yeah im out, but many thanks for the opportunity.

  • Senor Bear

The 20mm Tubs would only be used for "special" Summer trips into the hills and so only wheeled out occasionally .... I wouldnae be using them constantly at all..

I'd also been looking at 24mm Tubs from Yishun, they seem far more affordable too (USD 399 + 75 P&P) ... Interested to hear what others think as to durability of 20mm and 24mm tubs.

    Cheers!!

  • do they do matte finish as well dammit?

  • my rim started honking horribly on some long descents this weekend

  • Did you get some pictars of the braking surface?

  • totally forgot i will endeavour to do so later this evening

  • Couldnt find the bit that flaked off, it was a very slim flake so its hard to find

  • Visible gap where it came away? If you run your finger nail around the braking surface can you find it?

  • tried the nail trick but i think its too subtle to be found, I didn't imagine it though.

  • Try running a biro over the surface- sounds a bit short bus but you can see the nib tick down/up when it runs over a dip.

  • i'll have another look tomorrow

  • Well, I bit the bullet and after lengthy email communications with Johnson (Farsports) ... man that guy must have gotten fed up with me... I had a million questions and then some .. I placed an order.

I ordered the 24mm Carbon Tubs, Red Bitex Hubs, SAPIM CX RAY spokes, Red Alloy nipples and they cost me £361.82 inclusive of the Paypal Fee..

They've been sat at Customs since Sunday night (C'mon C&E, pull your finger out) ... so I'm hoping to have them Thursday or Friday, maybe even Wednesday if I'm lucky.

Cannae speak highly enough of Johnson, the guy was a legend in dealing with me.

Yishun were cheaper but communications were'nt quite as good as these were a better build so, just waiting to receive them now..

I brought some Tufo S33 PRO Tubulars as I running a little short on Moolah, anyone running these or have any experience of them, I'm heading way out into Cotswolds on them Sunday/Monday .. just praying they're good on puncture protection ..

  • How are they built?
    One cross, heads out?

  • No idea to be honest ..

Never thought to ask, whatever is "standard" I guess.. :)

Mate, I'd asked so many questions by the point of ordering I figured the poor guy needed a break ...
