What do I have wrong in the settings my 800 goes on crazy 20 to 30 miles detours after it says the target is 9 miles, I assume as the crow flies, when I do routing?
-
• #4178
Believe this is possibly since a factory reset?
-
• #4179
The only time I used the routing before the reset was from Camberwell to Hackney and it seemed fine.

Brockley to Barnet?

We got to the pub last year because we had an Etrex and three weeks ago I got to the cafe because I kind of knew where I was. Still would be good if the 800 knew as well.

I now blame "avoid highways".
-
• #4184
I don't have that set and the routing is still shit.
-
• #4185
Which maps are you using? Some of the cycle specific ones have roads for bikes set as highways to aid the routing.

City Navigator Europe.

Fuck Garmin
Does Wahoo save power data in some format that WKO can read?
-
• #4188
I've emailed Wahoo to ask them to send you an Elemnt without catches or conditions, I hope they do.
I'll be replacing all my bike computers in 5 weeks' time and still haven't decided on Garmin vs Wahoo. Garmins have been around forever, but there's always an issue (the existence of this thread is testimony to that), and whilst Wahoo are newcomers they do seem to be catching up fast.
If the Wahoo is power meter friendly and can satisfy you, then I'll throw my money at them.

That's nice of you. Thanks mate.
One thing's for sure, I'd make for a good product tester. Nothing survives a year with me :)

Why is a 400k track uploading to my 1000 fine but only appearing as a 235k track on my 30x?
WTF?
-
• #4191
Possibly track truncated due to too many track points.
I think the limit may be 10, 000 .
Do you have a copy of the gpx to look at? -
• #4192
30x has 10000 limit.
-
• #4193
I'll try and run it through a converter. If that doesn't work I can send a copy.
-
• #4194
Used GPS Visualizer to reduce track points like you suggested. Seems to have worked. Ta

I could've made you a flat white

So which Garmin would you guys more likely to buy? the 820 or 1000?
Garmin offer me credit to replace the 810 that no longer charge (and they no longer have another one in stock), planning to get the Garmin and sell it for a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt.

1000.
-
• #4199
1000 for me too.
-
• #4200
Okay, I'll get 1000 and sell it on for slightly less than retail inc. recipes and warranty.
You sure? I thought I'd used tracks before that did turn by turn on the etrex? It's been so long I've probably forgotten how I set it up. Maybe I converted a track to a route first.
Might be confusing it with my old HCx which could do a TracBack...

Nah, you can on the newer ones too..
"If you do a Where to, tracks you can select saved tracks and in track manager you can pull up saved tracks and also navigate with them. "
