Rename thread to absolute horror

I'm loving the idea of the new Edge 25;

Yes, it's very disappointing and absolutely typical of Garmin - cease giving a shit once a newer model is released. Cunts.

Indeed. Does the sync not work with a 1000 either?
I read that you can link to strava with Garmin express, but am I right in thinking the wireless doesn't upload to express, only Garmin connect?
-
• #2406
I don't have a 1000 so can't comment on that.
Garmin>Garmin Connect App(on a mobile device)>Garmin Connect (service)+Strava+etc is meant to be the process, in reality it goes Garmin>Garmin Connect App>server error.
So you have to plug the Garmin into a device running Garmin Express.

yes you can auto sync connect to strava

Yeh, unfortunately i think that is no longer working, Strava announced recently that GC is basically busted for Strava sync. Ridiculous. WTF not fix it.!?
I bet a lot of people found the appeal of a 510 and 810 was the wireless uploads.

I was excited by it too till I learnt that although it has Ant+ it won't support powermeter .. plus it doesen't have mini USB to charge on the go ..

1000 Bluetooth sync works fine.
I use tapirrik for strava sync. Works 99% of time. https://tapiriik.com/
-
• #2411
Interesting - so the 1000 syncs to G Connect? And then you use that tapiriik thing to get it onto strava?
-
• #2412
Yup Bluetooth to garmin connect on iPhone.

Am I missing something? Strava links to GC and pulls everything across doesn't it?
Mine certainly does for both my Forerunner 405 and Edge 500.
-
• #2414
^ It does, and it works fine for me.
My Forerunner 620 uploads everything over the wifi connection when I get home or to the office directly to GC and I find them on Strava after a few minutes.
Manual process for the Edge 800 via Garmin Express but they all end up in Strava too.

My GC pushes data to Strava and Training Peaks, it's just the Bluetooth sync-with-mobile thing that is AWOL.
-
• #2416
My garmin always says "sync failed" via bluetooth, but the rides are always uploaded to strava via it anyway

Darn, shame that Volare is only in stock in larger sizes. Anyway, found a Croix de Fer for £650 that seems a good shout.

My 810 syncs with my phone over Bluetooth with no problem
App version 2.11.5 on Android 4.4.2, 810 software v 3.00

Anyone used an Oregon?
Thinking about one instead of etrex. Takes batteries or recharge and also has bigger touch scree.
Can't see why to get etrex

-
• #2420
Cost I guess the etrex 20 is nearly £100 cheaper
-
• #2421
Etrex 20 doesn't have barometric altometer. Or a screen as near as good. But yes, they are cheaper.
Anyone want to buy a 1000?
Edit: Maybe I'll just stick with my 1000. It's not failed me yet, really.

Courses on Edge 500 is significantly more useable with fixed zoom, still not as it should be, but better.
Adding custom data fields to the course page is not possible is it?
-
• #2423
eTrex 30 does I think.
-
• #2424
Yeah 30 does but not much less that Oregon.

My Edge 200 has a hard time finding satellites. Any tips? Takes between 30 and 60 minutes to be able to start the recording.
What a load of turd. That's one of my main reasons for wanting one!
