Ah, I read that as 'no cycling restrictions' and thought "what's the problem?!" but he meant 'NO CYCLING' restrictions.

I can use my new 810 without maps can't I? If I have a course it'll still work on the basemap (without turn by turn) right?

Have not done it for a while but with a tcx I have just followed the blue line. Does not really matter where you are does it?
-
• #2106
Same with a gpx track if you choose the off road option.
It will not try to find the nearest road but will follow the track points in the gpx file. -

Not for an audax, no. When I'm training though I often use the map to look around and pick somewhere else to ride to. Well, I used to. I'll get a map on it eventually but in case I don't have a memory card spare before Saturday I thought i'd ask.

Is there a way to check storage space on the actual 800/810? What do they come with internally available?
-
• #2116
800 has about 100MB. Too small for maps.

• #2117
Cheers. Looks like I'll have to grab the SD card out of the etrex and put a new OSM map on it.

I have a GPX/TCX file which I want to import/replicate in Strava routes; I found a couple of sites that let you import the files and show the route on map but none of them show the direction of the ride .. what is the best solution?
-
• #2119
Ride it both ways?
-
• #2120
Ridewithgps for example shows a green icon at the start and a red icon at the end.
Garmins basecamp shows direction arrows
-
• #2121
Can i import GPX/TCX in ridewithgps?

Any ideas for sorting a loose USB connection on a Garmin? The actual connector feels pretty tight, like it won't fall out but it seems to rock side-side a bit, which I guess is making the unit think the external power is disconnecting, so it beeps and sets the screen brightness up again.
OSM maps ? If so you can fix the problem at source by heading over to http://www.openstreetmap.org, editing the map and putting Bicycles=no tags on the offending ways. Then wait a couple of days and download fresh maps.
