  • It's different circuits though ain't it, so it's effectively running two GPS circuits (maybe).

The biggest extra draw will be that more satellite locks = more processing required in determining the (more accurate) position.

Whilst you need a minimum of 4 satellites for to work out your position (in 3D) any extra satellites will help refine this but add to the burden on the GPS chip, which means more power required. Enabling GLONASS will effectively double the number of satellites available which leads to a noticeable decrease in battery life.

  • My 800 had a bit of a freak out earlier, the autopause (which I had set to pause when no movement detected) kept on turning on and off, even when moving. The cadence was reading fine and seemed accurate.

I turned it on and off a few times and tried other autopause options (i.e., pause when at certain speed) and it didn't help. So I restored it to factory settings and it seemed a bit better, but still being weird.

    Any ideas what to do?

  • just picked up a 920xt.

Much sleeker than the 910xt it replaced. Bigger buttons too. Should be easier to use mid run. I know folk say it's much the same in a fancy package. But Bluetooth, WiFi, glasnos, running cadence via the hrm....... Seems å decent upgrade to me.

  • Anyone have a garmin on which you can turn power meter auto-zero off for sells? 510, 810, 1000, 910xt (?)

  • Keep up informed, the 920 looked perfect until the Fenix3 announcement looked even more perfect...

  • lines starting with a 'greater than' denote quoted text

Phone doesn't have Bluetooth smart which is annoying. But I'm setting up my screens now. The OS is better. Bit tidier. Have a colour for each activity so I know what I'm messing with.

I ll be cycling running and swimming with it next week. So I'll get to check it to check it out properly.

  • Need to be a Garmin?

I have a PC-7 I'm not using at the moment.

  • Looking for something a bit more discrete - but I guess I could use my pc7 in the meantime.

  • My 910 appears to be having problems.

For the last week, every time I do an activity my 910 appears to function perfectly during the session (displaying power/pace/time/distance correctly). After I finish the workout I stop the garmin and reset as normal. If I check the activities on the garmin the activity summary data is all present and correct, however if I click "view more" all the data just displays as zeros.

When I try to transfer to the computer using garmin express I just get an error for those workouts and no .fit file appears to be created on my computer.

Has anyone else experienced this? What was the solution? I've had firmware 3.00 for ages and so I believe everything is up to date but it's getting frustrating. I've lost 5 workouts this week and would rather not lose tomorrow's race.

p.s. I was wondering if it was a gps related issue as my turbo session a few days ago seemed to work fine, but then again my pool swim the day before didn't work.

  • Memory full? My forerunner 210 does something like this when it has no more space to store FIT files. Rather than, you know, actually tell you its memory is low. The 605 does the same.

  • Hi

Openstreet maps not loading onto SD card

    Ive been following DCRAINMAKERS site

    http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/05/download-garmin-705800810.html

Had my 800 over 6 month now and gave up

  • @Howard 64% memory used apparently so I doubt it. Still I'll try deleting all activities (I have all the non-corrupt ones on the computer anyway) and any courses that I have saved.

  • Time to Soft/Hard reset?

  • What exactly do you mean by not loading onto the sd card?
Do you mean that the img file will not transfer to the garmin directory or something else?

Your micro sd card directory/folder structure should look something like this, in this instance we are viewing the garmin folder, the *.img files are maps.

  • Hard reset?

Done. Hope it works for tomorrow. I've recently re-found my HRM strap so want to see how my HR reacts to an XC race.

Annoyingly I forgot to note how I had my screens set up which will frustrate me for a while.

  • Once you have it set how you wish, make a copy of the settings.fit file and then you can replace if you ever need to do another reset.

Same applies to the totals.fit, locations.fit and device.fit.

  • Useful info thanks.

Irritatingly I did the hard reset, but got exactly the same error after today's race. Any other suggestions or should I just try and send it back to Garmin and demand a new one?

  • Hmm, I have a spare 310xt that I keep fitted to my bike. Is there any benefit (part from the larger screen) in getting a 500?

  • Is the new cadence / speed sensor considerably better than the old one? If sell the old one, will I be happy spending £20 more on the new one?

  • I've got the one that came with the 510 in summer 2013 and it's OK. The o-ring seal on the battery compartment of mine is tricky to resit though. Is this the one your referring to or is there a newer one?

  • There was a lengthy review on DC rainmaker. I think the conclusion was that they're functionally the same but the new one looks a bit neater.

I think this is newer, looking for a TLDR version of the DC Rain maker

  • okay, I read it. I don't really get if it is an improvement on previous iterations of the speed / cadence sensor. So I guess I don't need it…
