  • I had a lovely read of the Metro on the Central Line today.

    ^ a real cyclist.

You must have done a hard ride yesterday, but what about your recovery, 45 mins easy rollers tonight?

  • He will be busy with that recipe of rhino ribs find it on Metro.

Nothing you post ever makes sense, but it often makes me laugh!

  • That's a good start, better than nothing.

YouTube - Walk this Land ez-rollers (drum n bass/jungle remix) lock stock two smoking barrels

love this tune, the month in cinema when it appeared as slow- motion- stop cut in 'Lock stock ....' (scene where they were partying after the robbery) in 97 was a seminal moment in cinema history. play it loud

  • Using public transport takes me 20 minutes longer than riding.

Same here, but I don't often drink a coffee and read a paper/book while cycling.

300 TSS so yeah, there will be residual fatigue for a day or so.

Plus I'd done a 3hr session on the time trial bike on Sat so my shoulders and back were already stiff and sore. The bars are up more now (thanks Scherrit) but I need to do some more work on it so I can adapt to the 24hr position.

Monday is pub quiz so I won't do a light spin. I tend to go for a bit of a walk to get some blood flow going but that's usually about it.

  • ^that's rich. I seem to remember you challenging me to a quick ride back from my first ever south beers. I also remember having to turn bak on ourselves in New Cross to pick up your lungs.

so, we had a race, where we both knew that we were racing, from the same start, to the same finish?

    questionable logic there, knobber...

  • Had a race, no it was more a game on tag with a bunch of RLJ on the way into work on Saturday. I passed four cyclist (don't think they together) early on my ride in, at the first red light I had stopped at they went though. I passed them on the next section of road. Next red light I stopped though they went again, then I passed them again. This went on for a while until there was a long section of road when the lights were green left them for dust.

    Enjoyed that ride to work!

I'd look at your questionable fitness, melt bag...
You were the one that was a little aggressive about it. I remembered thinking, 'strewth, these forum bods are a little competitive/pushy.'
Also racers know when they're racing. If you don't want it you just drop off. Keep pushing and its on. So what, the start/end points are a little more fluid?

  • So was test riding my newly bought reynolds 531 frame bike, was very impressed with lightness and agility. So, anyway I am quite quick at take off with the bike, but I maintain a steady speed once I've gathered momentum. Problem is, I overtake most people when traffic light turns gree due to my fast take off, and these guys take it so personally.

earlier tonight, left some guys in the dust as I took the roundabout, and as I am riding steadily home I can hear the panting and the desperate chain-bashing sound behind me. Naturally I dont really care and keep my pace, and after a few minutes a guy takes me over and leaves me in the dust. Lol...

He slows down again at the traffic lights, as soon as I pull up next to him, he takes a quick look at me and zooms away leaving me in dust again and vice versa untill I had to turn towards aldgate.

I mean wtf lol, theres nothing personal involved here, some people just need to chill out a bit.

  • spiteful taggers everywhere.

  • how has such a moronic thread been created.

    ask Desmond Morris?

  • I am yet to see another cyclist on my commute.

  • I am yet to see another cyclist on my commute.

    Know how that feels.

Still its springtime so the pavement cyclists will be out in force soon enough, and the childish middle age men (me), will be racing each other during evening circuits of the local lake. Happy days.

  • Some skinny kiddy on some racing bike started racing me today ... dropped him going up constituition hill. I had to wait for some lights and he was determined to stay in front so the cheeky fucker decides to over take me just as the lights go green. He wasn't that fast though but he was riding a bit mental... so I drafted to Homebase while singing Duran Duran - Ordinary World.

Is this anywhere near clapham by any chance? The homebase near York Road/Battersea Park road?

  • Sorry mate, I am Poole boy ... so doubt it. Clapham is discussed as it is a mysty mountain hop in my local ....

Of course it could be my Italian doppleganger "Luca Robinsi" on a 70s pug racing up a steep hill in the big ring, with his knackered left pedal clicking on every other pedal stroke, I heard he was very desperate to get there in time to get some terracotta hanging baskets for mamma so she can plant some Geraniums in time for the end of the summer.

  • This morning on my way home from work, sighted a cx bike a couple of hundred metres further along the canal, (i was on my mtb) thought, try and catch him... Ended up chasing for about 7-8 miles, finally caught him at a gate, I was blowing... he turned round and motioned I could go in front if i liked... my response "er no mate you're alrght..." then just rode the next couple of miles at his pace before he turned off.

Was good to have someone riding a decent speed to set a pace, took about 5 minutes off my time home. (21 miles)

in the future, must try harder!

  • Attempting to match/catch a better riders is the only way to ride faster. It forces you out of your comfort zone. 7-8 Miles is a good effort.

Next time keep on going ... push until you push no more ... than rest behind the fuckers when he overtakes again ... then when you reckon you go something take the lead.

  • He had seen me and made a noticeable effort to stay ahead, tbh I could see he was knackered when he said to go in front... I was happy to chill though as we'd just got into the city centre, plus I had another 8 or so miles to go.

I think he was a bit gutted he got caught by a fat lad on a mtb! ha

  • Maybe he felt sorry for you malasyan, "meh this guy is about to suffer a heart attack, better let him overtake me"...

    :D

If you caught up with a roadie on a mtb bike ... it is boastable.

Letter a lesser overtake you, is not an option.
