Great idea. Matt can you make a poster with a bit of info? I'll go round collecting money from my work. I reckon i could get at least £5-10.

I've got my heart set on this for berlin:

Frame looks nice, but you're going to want to at least change the wheels to something with aluminium rims (£100-200), and you'll probably want more than 5 gears for touring (£100-200 for cassette, shifter, cables, chain, chainset etc). Also, it's a typically undetailed ad for a 40 year old bike - if the headset, stem, b/b, and/or seatpost are seized it could turn out to be a write-off.
Bearing all the above in mind, I wouldn't bid more than £100, but that's me. I hate shitheap old bikes; I'd change everything except the frame and possibly fork...

You'd def want more than 5 gears if you're loading your bike for 2 weeks. 27'' wheelset is a bit of a pain so would change those, but there are loads of decent second hand wheelsets for cheap.
It's as cheap/expensive as you want to make it. I've heard of people touring the world on shitty old 80's mtbs. -

This sounds like a brilliant idea and a worthy cause. I've been thinking about riding to Berlin myself recently, what with me not having a job 'n all...if my situation hasn't changed in a couple months I could always donate myself as cyclecam-man.
All the best, I'll be keeping tabs on your progress and I'll make a donation when I have income!

whats the max i should offer for this?
-

If the b/b, seatpost and stem aren't seized maybe £100 max. If they are seized then nothing. You could end up spending £100-? fixing it up.
I'm selling my road bike (Genesis Equilibrium), but want a lot more than that, obviously!

It looks like an old bike with new giant stickers on it to me...aren't they the same font as the new Bowery?
Won a bike on ebay last night, got this message this morning:
Hi

RegardsNicola
