  • Elmers End is not Croydon.

They should put that on the signs round there.

  • They have.

  • Proof? I only deal in FACTS.

  • Elmers End is not Croydon.

Says here that that Elmers End is in Bromley, but its sewage farm is in Croydon.

  • Wikipedia is not FACTS.

  • I do cyclocross training in South Norwood Country Park. True FACT.

  • thanks Andy P and the rest for leading and riding so impressively. Simply wasn't feeling the ride at all. I keep telling myself that I can play football on Monday and follow it 24 hrs later with these rides and it isn't happening. That was a hard slog and I'm just glad that Ide Hill wasn't as steep as it seems when you go down it. The ouskirts of 7oaks stank of birdshit which was being used to fertilise the fields. not a good memory to finish on.

  • Sounds like a good night. How was the cowshit road between Westerham and Pilgrims Road? Cowshitty? Quoting benjam quoting Ludwig from last years ride.

flashback... ludwig: 'ah what the hell my bike's getting dirty.'

Jonny/Tim, did you cut home via 7oaks station? Heavy legs I guess.

  • ^^ answered that for me....

yeah nice descent from the top of ide hill down in to sevenoaks, spoiled as tim said by a terrible stench of birdshit

  • trust you john. good to see you out there dude.

noone knows if anyone gets home until they post bruce. TNRC would never leave anyone alone out there in the dark lanes, as was proven on at least four occassions last night. but sounds to me you were back in to civilisation and can't really grumble if everyone wanted to power home.

I was just bitter that I missed out on the triumphal finish and the podium girls. There were podium girls, right?

  • ^ there always is dude. why do you think clintsmoker and i took a shortcut ;)

  • How can one differentiate between cow and bird shit?

  • Cow shit rarely falls from the sky.

  • rollseyes

  • There is a very distinct difference in odour. If you've ever been coated in chicken shit you'll always remember what it smells like.

  • the amonia content seemed far higher to me. it stang the eyes. like swimming in a 1970's public baths

  • massive props to Polky for the bike loan. Wish I could have done it justice.

  • Something here doesn't quite add up.

They were really in the middle of nowhere.

  • Cow shit rarely falls from the sky.

    Cow shit throwing - YouTube

  • I did say "rarely", tho I suppose it depends on the company you keep.

Having a bird shit on you is just bad luck, having a cow shit on you implies an element of misadventure. I'm not sure I even want to know what it is andyp gets up to that requires total immersion in bird shit.

  • I'm happy to tell you. Let me know if you are any more sure.

    It was youthful misadventure though.

  • Having a bird shit on you is just bad luck, having a cow shit on you implies an element of misadventure.

    Confucius?

  • How can one differentiate between cow and bird shit?

Bird 'shit' is a mixture of shit and solid uric acid - what birds produce instead of urea. Like urea, bacteria convert it to ammonia. So bird shit gives off more ammonia than animal shit from which most of the piss has been separated.
