I was in the shop over the weekend to see if my back wheel was salvageable seeing as someone kicked in my new velocity rim whilst my bike was unattended...it wasn't salvageable :(. They were very nice, helpful...and sympathetic to my loss. Sigh, back on the road bike for awhile.

They've gone down in my estimations a proper mechanic would have stamped on the wheel in exactly the opposite manner which broke it.

haha like ed at polo, that shit works.

They did offer to stand on it, but alas, it was too wonky. Someone really had it out for my wheel.

Did this happen at night time?
-

Yes, it was night time...whilst I was out. I know, I KNOW...lesson learned.

Been in there a few times and i have to say its mostly been good. there was one time when the guy at the till didnt seem to have a clue what he was talking about and kind of blagged it a bit, resulted in a return and exchange but we all have to learn somewhere.

rang and asked if they had any track chains. the guy on the phone started telling me about 9 speed shimano?! then started on bmx chains.....
i explained that wasn't what i was looking for, he said 'but a bmx one would do the same job' - no shit sherlock. just like a gatorskin and a randonneur do the same job, doesnt mean they'll perform the same way does it?
im still sticking with ride, better stock, better with returns, FAR more clued up staff, and they have better distributors.
just ordered a new pedal setup from brck lane through them, at 20% discount, get in.
rant over X

was just browsing the evans cycles website, their 'maintenance' pricing is hilarious.
£14 to fix a puncture
£14 to fit a set of lights or put a new seat on.it goes on in this vain.....
