Hi guiz, I've sold out but thought i'd leave a memory here.
We had some good times.

My powdercoated Fort 7005 w/ Makino NJS forks.
I'm running a Ti Selle Italia SLR instead of the Brooks now. Wouldn't mind getting some Mavic Ellipses for track wheels too...
Also... I'm 5' 11" and mine is 56cm.
Really want to convert mine to 1" threaded. That looks awesome with the smaller front clearance.

^DutchHipster, can I ask where are you based in the Netherlands?

Wageningen and you?

Are the even older Sanko steel ones allowed?
Tester, can I ask what tubing this is? And how much are these worth these days? I'm looking for a first track bike to practise on and this may fit the bill...

It's Sanko butted Cr Mo. No idea what the current market price is, I paid about £170 new in 2002. I think the hipsters like the faux pro look, so they are probably overpriced in the second hand market compared with square track irons, you can often pick up some older 531 bikes for about £300 ready to race.

Yeah, I think you're right, the one I saw was £150. Should probably be half that.
On a different note I just missed a nice complete 531 Bob Read (?) which went for so much less that £350. Was slightly too big but would have been a cracking starter. Cheers for the heads up.

Seeing as you all own Fort frames, reckon this is worth the money?
I'm not sure. Put an offer in of £125 and I've seen the bike posted here before eBay. Wondering whether it's worth it.

The chap who sold me this frame told me it was Reynolds 953.
I don't think so! .....maybe 753 or 531, but I'm just guessing.I don't think so!....Sanko Cr Mo, which might be marginally better than unbranded 4130.
For £125 I'd want it to be immaculate in original paint and include a headset.

• #71
ah! thought it looked a lot like yours. guess I'll give it a miss.
-
• #72
I looked at that one also, non orignial paint, no headset, no BB. No thanks...

I was expecting to be posting up pics of my shiny new fort ro aero and joining the prestigious and glorious fort owners club today. Things haven't exactly gone to plan.
I bought thishttp://rover.ebay.com/roverimp/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=2&pub=5574889051&toolid=10001&campid=5336525415&item=120901988461&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER] last week, after failing to push the button on tomsvoboda's fort sale for ages, and received it in a nicely packaged box on Thursday. After lugging it home via three tube lines at rush hour I calmy unpacked it and held it above my head like the mutha of a trophy it was.
Then to my surprise I see a mark on the back of the head tube - on closer inspection it's a fucking crack. How the hell did the seller not notice this?? It's just a paint chip I tell myself. Wrong. After removing the headset and having a better look the crack goes right through the tube and up inside about 2.5 inches. Gutted.

Oh shit I nearly bid on that too.

boo sorry to hear that. refund?
Yes, indeed - they are stainless steel dropouts, each one bolted to the alloy frame with 2 chainring-bolts. You can also see them in the two posts from irish mick.
