There's another brake like the Paul but I forget the name, it's also relatively new too and possibly cheaper.

There may be other considerations, outside of looks, when choosing disc rotors, I suppose.

Shimano make a couple of Cantilever brakes now. Surely they will work with X700 series stuff?
I'll have a poke about. I just have an XT v-brake kicking around and thought I may be able to put it to use.

frame is disc only

Think it was a reference to my canti woes.
FWIW the Shimano brakes are the CX70s.
-
• #957
nah, he had quoted my question about disc size
-

What are you on about James?
Howard there are a couple. CX70 and CX50.

Neil
I am working out west all day, but thanks for the offer.
What size rotors do people use on cross bikes for front and rear?

Sorry, I was meaning that to be a response to Howard's question about cable pull and v brakes for X700 series stuff.
I dun a misquote.

glad you can see what I was on about.

It also shows how little care I take before posting.

not bad for £960, 105 shifters and ultegra deraileurs.
or this for a bit more with 105

That look pretty cool, bit worried about the brakes.
-
• #965
the first one has some shimano mech discs and the other one has avid bb7.
I think at the moment those brakes are just place holders until hydraulics become
available. -

Cyclocross forks, tapered steerer, disc tabs- what is out there?
Hint: I'd prefer not to put ENVE forks on a Boardman.
-
• #968
Thanks!
Looks like it was an expensive crash last weekend.
-
• #969
so what got damaged? am guessing forks and wheels
-
• #970
Took a chip out of the forks, and the rear wheel is junk.
-
• #971
I'd just get a replacement Boardman fork, but that appears to be totally impossible.
-
• #972
What happened?
-
• #973
Ran out of talent, locked the front brake, went off the track, hit stuff.
-
• #974
Ouch. Bike came off worse than you I guess?
-
• #975
Yep, I'm fine.
This was a week ago, I've only just got round to cleaning the mud off the bike and then found the ding on the fork.
As I said above I'd normally just get a replacement fork from Halfords, but when I tried that the friendly chap said "Can't get 'em mate, to be honest with you I wouldn't even know where to start", which is a bit unfortunate.
I also have a 140mm hope disc on the rear of the 29er. Looks comedy.
