Michelin have shelved tubeless for the road. It's looking like it's not really caught on.
Apparently latex tubes are pretty good for minimising pinch flats in CX.
Tubulars are even better.

I like the quote from that article:
Tubies are indeed a complicated, outdated, dirty, resource-intesive, brute-force solution, but they have one singlar, massively compelling argument in their favor—they work. -

The ladyfriend pinch flatted on the first lap at Muddy Hell - teach me for thinking her clinchers could run at 35 psi. She wasn't happy.

tubeless is fantastic for mtb, they should be able to get it to work if the tyre/rim combo is right, i wouldn't entertain any rimstrip though and only stans rims as they are the best tubeless rims.
another year or 2 of development should see them even more reliable, a friend rolled a tub at ally pally this weekend no tyre system is perfect. -

True, thinking Michelin Mud x green (If I can get my hands on a set) and latex tubes. Still kicking myself for missing a set of reflexs on 105 hubs for £50 on t'bay. Would be much easier
Are you going to pay $300 for the dried and cracking green versions. Or £60 for a new grey pair?

What sort of tyre pressures do MTBers run these days?

What tyres were they? My grifo opens arrive tomorrow, hoping they're better than the vittoria xm pros I rode last year.

35 to 40 on my bastard conversions, you can go alot lower on the real thing.

Link to the review? Would like to see what they made of the brakes....
Now with gongs!

That's the mud 2, completely different tyre I'm afraid. The green ones are more supple and clear mud much better than the mud 2's. There's a reason people pay a premium for them, especially the ones with the tan sidewalls

22-28 (big 2.3) wouldn't run that with tubes though

no doubt but considering you can have a proper bead designed for running with only the yellow tape (no heavier rimstrip) plus a wider rim for a better tyre profile (xc717's are old school narrow) and be a lot stronger so a stans rim is the way to go.
a pair of flow's is their 'downhill' rim yet they weigh less than a 717.

Ritchey Speedmax Cross -they came fitted to the otp Cross Check. I have some new Mud 2s to fit this weekend. Let's see how they do.

Where did you order from? Zepnat's showing none in stock

Andy - do you think that a lot of the issues people have with 'burping' are related to conversions as opposed to a tubeless specific rim?

Just under 30 PSI on a 2.55 weirwolf 29er, on Velocity blunt rims. Using a rim strip means I havent saved much weight. But the added traction on soft stuff, plus th reduced 'bounce' on lumpy stuff. Makes it more than worth it.
Going on my MTB experiance alone, I'd go for the widest rim possible, which is also tubeless specific. But I'm no CX rider.
(Put tubes back in now. Going to get a faster rear tyre for next spring)

Ribble, so I got to use the stock-take discount on them too. They only had the blingy black/white version available, but I didn't mind that.

Bin the Ritchey's. I had a pair, raced on them 4 times and had 3 DNFs due to punctures.

I've seen reports of both, so it looks like burping is common despite the rims in use.

Is it the pressure? 60PSI is a lot more than 25PSI. But the bead/rim interface is exactly the same.

It's the low pressure that's the problem, typically you'd be running a tubular in a muddy race at 25 psi or lower.
