No, just no.
Wetter winters in the UK mean more mud and you'll destroy the Di2 stuff in less than a season with that set up. Rinse and repeat.

A fun fact i've came up today - bike24.de offers you a full CAADX 2017 lineup when there is no info on manufacturers website or interwebz.
On the serious note - if i'm in the market for a new CX bike, say like CAADX 105 or Mares AX is it a good time to purchase or the 2017 train is arriving soon?
-

You may be waiting quite a while for 2017 stock. That was my experience last year.

Anyone else with a TCX SLR 2 that gets rotor rub when sprinting / climbing out of the saddle? I can only imagine it is due to flex in the forks, and it's happened on the factory forks and the warranty pair on my bike. Can't get the pads much further away as the lever throw will be too big. I was wondering whether an upgrade to some DT RWS skewers might make a difference.

Good wheel set for CX? Been having a look at superstar components stuff. Looking to spend about 300 quid max.
-
• #3857
Spend up a little more and get the Hope Tech XC in 27,5. That is what I'll be doing this season I reckon.
-
• #3858
They look very nice, but maybe a wee bit out of range. Have you heard anything about superstar components?

Wut?

Giant TCX owners, how can I stop seatpost squeaks?
-
• #3861
I assumed he meant 29

Mine was mental, the seatpost and Fizik saddle combined. Very noisy.
Lube the seatpost and torque correctly. Same with the saddle, lightly lube the rails at the contact points and at the ends where they meet the saddle.
-
• #3863
Lube - you mean carbon assembly paste, right?
How much do I need to apply? On whole length of inserted post or just where is clamp is? As on interwebz different recommendations on how much paste you need to apply -
• #3864
I used carbon assembly paste yes. I applied it to the whole inserted seatpost. No idea if that is right or wrong, but it worked.
-
• #3865
On all the bits that contact each other and give it a good clean before with some achohol to get down to the metal for maximum grip . Before that however get lube down the rails where the saddle joins let it soak in plus do grease the rails at the clamp.

What rims should I go for on a CX build?
I'm looking for medium priced - is this sensible as I'm almost definitely going to crash them?
Clincher, Tubs or Tubeless?Edit: I'm looking for disc rims
-
• #3868
DT Swiss r460
-
• #3869
Anyone want any mavic reflex rims for a tubular build? I have a pair going free, good condition yours for a couple of quid.
-
• #3870
Tubeless or tubs for a race wheelset. Tubs if you're serious and prepared to commit serious time to glueing. Tubeless for relative convenience.
From my experience stans rims are easiest to setup tubeless. R460 were a bit of a pain (could be down to tyres though) but are good value for money. I might be tempted by Chinese crabon if I was running discs too.

I'm also in the market for a new cross / winter training / touring / gravelly wheelset. Tubeless ready, Disc, wanna fit WTB Nanos so the wider the better, hopefully with convertable hubs because I'm currently on QRs but want to anticipate a move to Thru Axles...
Is this something that comes off the peg, or should I buy some china carbon rims and pair them to... some hubs? I weigh ~63kg so don't need a million spokes, 28 should be fine for proper abuse.

Cheap and cheerful option: http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/stans-switch-ultra-clearance-wheelset.htm
(basically Stans Crest on a Novatec hub that has replacable end caps.)
-
• #3873
I've got some Hope Pro Evo 2s coming in the post - so I think best bet would be to lace to either Stans or R460s
Think I'll go for some Stan's as I'm 99% sure I want tubeless -
• #3874
DT R460 are tubeless compatible arent they?
-
• #3875
That's why I'm going for stans...
I'm guessing it comes down to the brake package you get... with 105 you get mechanical disks, but with SRAM you get hydraulic... there's one in between the 105 and SRAM were you get semi-hydro disks (sky blue frame), the brakes will be beefier than 105, but with full hydro, you get way more braking power... apparently to loose 60% with mechanical. I've never used SRAM before either, but I hadn't used Shimano for donkeys so it wasn't a biggie for me.
