  • why not just keep then cannondale? decent carbon frame aint it?

  • Alu. It's OK, just not what I really want. And it's red.

  • Fair one, not sure why I thought it was carbon.

Yeah, red.... If you can find MCrowe I think he knows a thing or 2 about repainting Cannondales, if black is your thing that is.

  • Cool tip, I may look him up.

Although the lack of disc tabs give me another reason to use it as a donor bike.

  • Be careful with the sizing- I ride a 58cm Cannondale road bike but the 58cm CAADX was huge, way to big.

Go for a size down- I was very happy on the 56cm.

  • How much is one of those retail??

  • Yeah I ride a 50cm caad9 so going for the 48cm. Apparently they sold for £1400 at one point.

  • Hah! I would have bought one if Cannondale could have got them into the country, bought the Boardman in the end as it was available for purchase, not just to talk about in a bike shop.

No regrets at all, Boardman is splendid.

  • Hmmm by the amount of them on clearance I'd guess once they did get here they didn't sell. Lack of disc tabs probably a deal breaker for the do it all commuter crowd, and the specs aren't up to the standard more serious riders expect. Still sale prices are ok.

  • At our shop, we have a handful of Cannondale CX bike, both the SRAM and the Ultegra one.

They arrived way too fucking late, right on time to start announcing the 2012 model.

Cannondale, if you want to get ahead, call your 2011 bikes a 2012 one instead, then you'll be ahead for once.

  • With no disc tabs no one will believe them Ed- the CAADX is destined to be the MP4-18 of the bike world

  • Well at least the distribution fails now. Not the frames.

  • Focus Mares CX 2

What do we think? Worth it or not???

  • Focus Mares CX 2

Can you buy one in the UK at the moment? Wiggle don't seem to have any and they are the distributor IIRC. Reviews were massively positive though weren't they?

Evans has the CAADX in 51cm so I'm tempted to go for that. One of the best value purchases you can make at the mo I reckon; lots of bike for < £800

  • CAADX is truly a nice bike, especially with the discount now for both the 105 and the SRAM version.

  • £780 for the 105, golly.

  • Indeed, and the SRAM were £200 over the original cost of the 105.

  • I'm well aware of that, I was going to buy one, remember?

  • Of course, the aforementioned unobtainable 105, frankly I think the Boardman is a better choice.

  • It's going to get a lot of riding through the winter, looking forward to it

  • Hmmmm £2k for the Lynskey or £780 for the CAADX? Both are probably, to coin a phrase from the Roadbike thread, at least as good as I'll ever be at cycling. If I go for the later there's enough change for a 29er. Sigh. Wonder if I can squeeze a 135mm rear into the CAADX....

  • Certainly can on the Boardman!

  • Yeah uses MTB disc hubs I guess. I had some CXP33s built on to X9 disc hubs in prep for the Lynskey vaporware. I'd be gutted if I can't use them if I went for the CAADX.

  • Hope Pro II's on Mavic TN719/Formula Disc on Ritchey somethings.

  • X9 rear hub: I spy spacer washers. The Ti bike can wait, fed up with chasing Lynskey and hotlines every couple of weeks only for them to put the dates back again. I can live with Cantis or mini-vs. And I'll have enough change for some deep section tubs :) Lynskey order is being cancelled tomorrow.
