Don't know if this is a CX bike as such but what do poeple think of this:
Clearance and cable-routing suits CX.

Compact chainset however will not.

Scoble, can't make it today will try in a couple of weeks.

I'm not likely to be using for full cx duties but commuting, sportives, general riding in all weathers and it seemed to tick all boxes. Cheers.

Yep, looks like a varient on the BMC Granfondo theme but with more clearance.

Compact chainset however will not.
If this season is anything like last, I'd be glad of a couple fewer teeth on the little ring.
-
• #2633
Why? Those gears will be slower than you can run, and nearly all the gears on a 50+ chainring will be useless.

Seriously considering buying a Kinesis Pro6 frameset (found one for £350) but its a 51cm...
Im 5ft5ish and 29" inside leg.. any opinions whether it will be too big?
Hoping to bring my build in somewhere around £1k -

Well over a grand but very nice indeed - saw a chap riding one of these through Hyde Park this morning:

This looks like a good deal too: http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/whyte-saxon-cross-bike-id79479.html?gclid=CMio8pnm4bkCFbHItAodPWEACQ
Again over a grand but a mix of apex and rival with TRP Hy/Rd for £1300 is great value IMO.

• #2637
Wow - HyRds as stock spec - that's pretty cool

11-32 cassette and MTB wheels strike me as curious choices.
Certainly looks the part though.

With an almost UCI-illegal saddle-nose to BB distance (The picture from the Canyon link).

Is it? seat tube angle look fine (73.5)

Yup - but pictured with inline seatpost and saddle forward in the rails we are rather close to the 5cm limit :]

It's a close call, but surly it must be there... or epic EPIC fail.

Given the type of customer those bike are, not really.
commuter and sportif riders somehow spend most of their time on the biggest sprocket which accelerate the wear and tear of the chain and chainring, which are a fairy common issues, especially on bicycle that have a 11-23 block.
Having a larger cassette mean that the average rider are less likely to wear them out.

It's a Canyon Ed, not some nodder fodder Jamis. Looks like a race bike - they just fitted the wrong cassette. Wheels...eh guess the Mavics are more interesting than some no-name hubs with Alex rims or something equally lackluster.

Oh I get you now, you mean like Cervelo are "race bike".

I like the wheels considering the price.
The cassette seems a weird chioce given the close geared chainset.
But if you look, it has mudguard eyelets on the inside of the forks and seatstays. Much like the old Focus cross bikes. Its trying to do everything. Which I think is'nt a bad idea.
Its not as green as the kinesis though. Which where my money woud go.
I think it looks good.
