  • really nice world tour bike, probably useless at cross though.
    needs aerobars and frame/saddle bags

    Just like me then.

It's main use is winter training, hence the 705 for navigation and the PC-7 for info, and other choices that make no sense for Cyclocross racing.

  • Cedywedy, some companies have released road version disc brake bicycle, Specialized for example have released their Secteur/Roubaix model in disc version;

front and rear rack mount, clearance for bigger tyres, disc brake, etc.

  • just like me then.

    i like that!

  • Dammit has a dirty rear rim.

  • Dammit has a dirty rear rim.

nerged for DJ "joke" and quoting myself...

    fuuuu

  • Dammit has a dirty rear rim.

That's official Herne Hill dirt from my one and only cross race.

  • Shit. Better keep that on there.

  • That race was over a month ago.

    You dirty, dirty boy.

  • Positively filthy

  • Not as pretty as the Rose Bikes similar spec thing but yes, my LBS is trying to make me buy one!

Me gusta mucho! And I bet it is also made by Merida anyway, as are Specialized, Cannondale, Boardman, Carrera etc. It's just badge engineering.

Hmmm. Like many I don't race and like the CX bikes for their versatility with 'guards and racks etc. I'm still thinking of just trying different brakes (V-type this time) and making the CX9 as light as possible for as little money as possible with different wheels, forks, Ultegr etc before going for a cheap Boardman with SRAM or save my pennies for a new CX/Road bike with discs next year

Tha Specialized is not brilliant considering the Merida and Rose for example have better finishing and specs, but I had an Allez for a year or two and it was nice as a commuter.
9 speed is sooo passe and hard to shift from the drops, although very robust.

  • this gives a bit of insight that road (audax/sportive) and cross bikes will eventually merge and only tyres will change

  • I think most bike is already like that, especially in audax.

  • The Raleigh Hodala Carbon SSCX with belt drive compatible gave me the weirdest boner;

    boner indeed.

    ENVE forks.

  • ^
    is that yours?
    N I C E.

  • I think most bike is already like that, especially in audax.

no, cos they don't have disc brakes

^^ want, raleigh's been bought over recently, things might change in the right direction.

  • I wonder if you can quote images from other threads
    edit: yes!

And at the same time, I just decided I will not buy a geared cross bike, I'll just buy this. It's always good to have two almost identical bikes right?

  • That Raleigh Hodala is a lot more than £1k though, just for the frame and forks.

    I'd still have one though.

  • N-1 Andy. N-1.

  • I'll be down to just four bikes soon. How am I going to cope?

  • I've claimed extra utility back. I'm putting gears on the DadTaxi.
3 bikes in one: winter hack, dad bike, turbo bike.

points in the bag for ifwhen I need them later

  • I am also trying to create "one bike to rule them all", the Boardman is winter trainer, occaisional CX bike, turbo bike and commuter.

It is going to look slightly odd sitting on the turbo with mudguards on I suspect.

  • My turbo bike has mudguards. It looks just swell.

  • Dammit, you seem like the oracle of SiSl cranks, where do you source them from? I am thinking about them for my CAAD 10, do they have a BB30 version?

  • @BMMF- that's ok then
@Amey- The SiSl's I purchased from Edwardes, new, the Sl's I purchased from someone "on here" who responded to my wanted add.

    They are all BB30.

You might see some price drops on them now as the SiSl 2 is now coming out, and there is a cheaper forged version just released that runs below the SiSl 2 in the range.

There are normally a couple of pairs to be found on the WW classifieds, but in general they would need to be shipped from the US of A
