Could just pick up one of these Graham Weigh F+F+HS off EBay for 199 squid.
It has rack and guard mounts. So you can use it as a commuter/audax type bike when not CX-ing. I used to throw mine around mountain trails, and mount 45mm studded tyres for the winter. Super versitile frame. If it had disc tabs I'd be ordering a replacement now.

I dont sell stuff on here (freecycle a bit). So I dont really care. I may have to find someone to deposite a zippy bag of my morning urin into TW2s tri-suit though.

are cyclocross bikes any good for touring or doing any distance on?

you can go all around the world if you want

^^Yep, some better than others.

Quite a few of the non race specific ones have eyelets for guards or racks so pretty good for touring, but all of them are good for doing any distance on as it is not really that much different than a road bike if you think about it. Put the same tyres on a road or cross bike and they will feel pretty similar.

The main disadvantage vs a dedicated touring bike is the shorter chainstay length. Making loading less convienient. Handling when loaded may not be as good either. I did'nt like long climbs on mine, as the front end got skittish. Better load distribution helped here alot though.
Basically they're great.

The 2013 CAADX looks rather tasty:
More detail and some pics of the new supercross here.
Does anyone want my 52cm 2011 CAADX frame?
There was a chap who used a road bike to race Muddy Hell last year.
Think he lasted two laps.
Mate of mine did it on an old school MTB fitted with 700c wheels, drops and BMX calipers - he finished the race.
