  • Looked at the pic. Impossible to comment over the interwebs.

  • Best to spend money on nice new fork than a nice new face.

Not that there's anything wrong with your current face step up of course.

  • The 2012 face is 5% stiffer and 10g lighter, don't you know.

  • You may get stung for import duty and VAT :(

  • £335 landed is my estimation

  • Ouch.

  • Yep.

    Kinesis looks bargainous, against that.

  • Could be worth getting a reducing headset, and a Salsa fork untill more options come along.

Especially if youre chucking the bike into hedges ;)

  • or the kinesis fork with a reducer headset

  • Alternative: get a reducer headset and run a standard 1 1/8" fork? Plenty more options at reasonable prices?

Personally I'd keep pushing Halfords to get you one, £189 isn't so bad for a full crabon disc fork.

    Well a-head of you there.

    Did you like the pun?

  • Well a-head of you there.

I was hinting that he should have a steel fork untill he learnt to ride off-road.

But then I nearly rode off the edge of a mountain last night. So I'll shut up.

  • Just came across and read this thread after looking for info on the Boardman.

Dammit appears to have had a bad time..

  • It's a good bike, update on the forks is that there are non in the country until late August/early September.

  • Boardman forks, that is.

  • I'd ride it and defer any decision then.

Genesis said to be using Whiskey fork on their 2013 bicycle, contact them for a UK dis perhaps?

    Ed

  • Just ride it. Replace it if it gets worse

  • duck tape?

  • Shimano released a drop bar specific brakes;

Shimano are adding two new drop-bar mechanical disc brakes to their line-up for 2013. The R515 is an evolution of the R505 road brake. It's said to be 30 percent more powerful, as well as having a lower profile design which reduces weight (to 181g, claimed) and makes it less vulnerable to crash damage. It's available in silver or black.

The CX75 is the cyclo-cross version. It uses the same calliper design but comes in 25g lighter (156g, claimed) – due to use of lighter small parts, according to Shimano – and has a slightly heavier action. It only comes in grey. Both designs can be used with Shimano's Ice Tech rotors for extra braking power.

  • jesus, they should stop wasting time and get the hydraulics sorted.

  • The R505 was dreadful, so a 30% gain in power is welcome, but probably still not enough. BB7s all the way.

  • Even the Road BB7 is still not enough without Travel Agent, so I'm hoping the new R515 will be powerful enough not to required an adaptor.

  • I've got BB7s with Apex levers and not needed a Travel Agent. They are very sensitive to warped discs, as they have to be run one click away from rubbing.
