Certainly is!
King's Road slowly but surely went mainstream. I feel a bit sad when I ride down there now with the markets and AC long gone.
A good change for AC though. I will have to check them out.

I used to come up to 'Town' from Pompey as a young pup . Check out Soul 2 Soul shop, AC and some sports shop in Vauxhall that got new Filas in early doors. Also nose pressed against Duffer window wondering if I could ever afford it.

Not sure if you can get them over here though

What is the actual difference of where it is made? i.e. are the turks that bad at the construction? Are US employees that good? Or is this like Taiwanese plastic frame snobbery?

One thing is for sure: My wages do not go up like that

There will be people that are better judges than me on that, but if I look at the Diesel jeans that I wore in the early 90's compared to the shit they started churning out once they were more mainstream it's not a good sign. Same goes for Edwin and Carhartt with their selvedge jeans that are produced in Tunisia.

I apologise. Everything I've seen in AC of recent made by LVC have been Turkish so I made an incorrect assumption. If anyone in this thread hasn't checked out AC, do it! It is a little bit pricey, as in most of the time it'll be full RRP, but the owner and manager are great guys so I don't mind paying a fiver extra for stuff.
On a slight side note, if anyone is a Red Wing wearer, why have prices shot up recently? My chukkas were £120 in 2009...now they're £200!

+1
if you want jeans looking good, you need to spend time in them. It's all about the sweet spot, after a year of everyday wear they get really good, then it's usually a matter of months before they collapse...
So true.
Almost there with my current Garb Stores but they're showing wear and thinning at the crotch and will no doubt explode about a day after they reach perfect maturity.

I don't know much about clothing, but speaking to friends in the product / furniture business, english manufacturing has been completely dropped by the chinese. They have now caught up in everything – price, quality, speed, communication, support, you name it. The only real benefit from uk manufacture is the ability to label it 'made in the uk' and then hike the price up a bit.

It is kind of like 'Made in Britain.' I know that means nothing now, but just say it did, it carries prestige, quality control, means it is usually well built. Now compare that to what people think of when something says 'Made in China.' Mass produced, lack of quality control, cheap, poorly built.
Exactly the same principle for jeans. I would rather wear something that said made in Japan, than something that says made in Turkey because it has a reputation for well made products. As is evident from the quality between a pair of my made in Japan Edwin's vs my made in Turkey Nudies. I know they're different companies but the quality is on a different level.

My Edwins were made in Tunisia (of Japanese denim) and it pisses me off no end.

When AC was on the Kings Road they used to stock Stussy and be all 'street.'
Quite the opposite now ey
