I desperately need 2 pairs repaired in the crotch but can't be arsed to drag myself into Central to take them to Twins in Soho.
Anywhere know anywhere that'll do a decent job around WeNo/Brixton/Camberwell?

Reliance Arcade. I'm not sure if she's still there but
https://www.facebook.com/kokobinabrixton/is pretty good.

Can now confirm Kokobina is very much still there, and did an immensely sturdy repair 👍. Thanks

Hi, I have a couple of pairs of BLB E5's, which I think is the tapered fit. I am after something a bit heavier that the 14oz. Jeans Store have suggested Naked & Famous Easy guy. They have a Japanese denim, made in Japan, at 16oz. Will I notice the difference? and are Naked and Famous good/worth it or should I look at something else?
Thanks

I think you should go a bit heavier, if only by one or two ounces, but a lot of the heft of cloth is down to how dry and stiff it feels. Some denims wear heavier than others and yet they’re the same weight, best to try them on if possible. I live in a retail desert and have to order everything online, but I really lucked out with Grease Point. Blackhorse are obviously excellent as well, but N&F are no slouches either, they’re re just kind of whacky when it comes to the spec of their denims, and the fits don’t work for everyone. All of their denims are Japanese made AFAIK, the jeans are sewn in Montréal.

Thanks. The Naked & Famous go on quite a journey to get here then! I thought around 17oz would be a good stepping stone to the 20oz options. Any other places to look? I don’t really have time to go to a shop at the moment.

Tons of Japanese options out there, look at fromjapan, tempo, okayama, denimio, speedway, rodeojapan, mcfly…

I went and got a pair of these https://www.okayamadenim.com/collections/big-john/products/big-john-23oz-tough-jeans-slim-tapered from Okayama, really nice stiff feel and weight, but I didn't check the thigh size, and they are a little snug for me. I got the 34" waist, and seem to fit as per the size guide. Before I return them is anyone here interested?

Hiut denims if of interest. Z I cannot lose weight. 4 pairs. 3 are 32x32. 1 is 32x30. The former have light turn up marks which would easily go. I pair is grey, the others all indigo. I also have Hiut shorts size 31. All items are very lightly worn, or barely at all. The grey ones are £40, 2 indigo ones are £45, the 32x30 ones are £50, all to reflect condition. The shorts I could not fit at all so never been outside - £40
Ideally would like to meet in person if you are interested in a few and want to check them out first (TN21 area, E Sussex). Or add postage. DM with your email if you would like photos. -

How snug? In my experience raw denim gives at least 1" in size. Might take a few days though if they're heavy

The Hiut Hackr fit is a slightly slim fit. Nothing dramatic. The Workr fit is more trad, only a v slight taper, and sits slightly higher on the hips. They are very true to size, I only washed 2 of the indigo ones once, and did not notice a significant stretch. The grey ones were washed 2 or 3 times (all washes on cold) and yes they felt a bit more comfy, but not so that you wished you had gone down a size. So the Hackr is tapered, but not super slim, and the Workr is a bit straighter, but not a Dad jean.

Is there a snazzy site where you can put in your desired hip, thigh, etc. measurements and get a list of suitable jeans?
-
• #4117
Not sure but that would be really useful!
-
• #4118
Threads website used to do that but it's gone to the wall now

I'm sure there's an AI chatbot somewhere, you can ask.

Exchange rate is pretty good to be in Japan right now - picked up some Sugarcane, Burgus and Warehouse Jeans all for around £100-130 including chain stitching in to length within an hour. Struggled to not go even wilder!

Ive some undyed fullcounts which i love. They really need a clean but I dont want to loose any length - any ideas how to go about it?
I pretty much never wash my normal indigo but they dont get dirty in the same way as raw denim, so spot cleaning / freezer etc does the job there.

Minus my sarcasm about crushed moth powder I'd decided the whole point of paying a premium for unadulterated denim was to do as you wish with it , to make you own marks.. they'd have to be pretty fantastic not to want to put them in a washing machine. besides how do they even dye the warp without getting it wet?
-
• #4123
Strong effort. Which WH and Burgus?
My Burgus were such extremely good value and I’m convinced they are made by WH.

shit . I misread undyed, soz, well worth a look

Did you not soak or wash them when you first got them? Will this be the first time they've come in contact with water? If so, there's not much you can do in that case. They're gonna shrink if they get wet. But a cold wash will minimize this.
Hard to say but I always find that jeans stretches more than you think. Got a pair of warehouse a while ago and they were shrunk to fit. Guy in the shop told me to size up but I didn’t. Only given them a soak so far but they were a bit on the loose side so I’ve given them a wash on 30 degrees hoping they’ll end up perfect.
Sorry not much input but sounds to me like you got the right waist size. Length is trickier though. I’ve had jeans come up 2-3 inches at first wash
