You can still get jeans taken in as long as its not so big the back pockets come in to play had some old Edwin's taken in by local tailor worked well.
Edit. Probably cheaper than the braces buttons too

Probably cheaper
Less than 10 bux?

If you’re taking in a lot then it can make them look weird, especially if from memory it’s like 20oz denim which will need specialist needles

Yeah agreed but there's a limit on how much beacuse of tbe pockets. The Edwin's I had done looked fine but wasnt a massive change.

bit of repair advice please.
I have two pairs of jeans which need crotch repairs. one is a pair of Huits.
a) is it worth trying to send the Huits back to Huit to be repaired (free lifetime repair offer)? I notice that they are currently not accepting repairs, and perhaps co-incidentally, this was the case last time I looked about a year ago
b) what's the best option for darning type repairs in London? The place over by Covent Garden still going?
many thanks

I would wait for the huit repair. It takes a while, but for the cost of postage you get a very good repair. I sent a pair back twice for repair. Probably more darn than denim now!

Not much of a service offer if they never accept repairs is it!
-
• #3985
Yeah, I was wondering that. I think they have been affected by C-19, they seem like good people so I'm giving them the benefit, will wait a while and see if they "open" again.
I also really like their jeans.
Still need a place to take the other pair.

Thanks, good to hear.

• #3987
Yeah I suppose and that’s generous of you to be so understanding but they have a premium product partly because of that guarantee.
If you get frustrated I’ve had a couple of repairs from the dry cleaners opposite Snaresbrook station and they’ve been more than decent

Could it just be a time of year thing? Maybe worth emailing them to understand why, and when it might start up again.

Any recomendations on brands which have smaller waist and leg sizes? Like 27" waist, 28" leg or around that. Looking for higher rise, more traditional loose fit styles. Thanks

Blackhorse lane, they start at 27in and do various cuts all with medium/high rise. they hem them for free.
worth every penny.
you can try them on in London -

Recommendations for a relaxed fit tapered Jean that sits on the waist not the hips?
Currently wearing Levi 550 but they are a touch too baggy and a touch too wide at the bottom. -

First question is always budget.

Was hoping for Edwin sort of prices ish. But not Edwin. Happy to hear any suggestion though.

I wasn't able to find much around Edwin price other than Edwin, when I went jeans shopping a few years ago.
If you can push the boat out a bit further, Momotaro slubby slevedge are super comfy and have a fit similar to what you describe.

@ChasnotRobert thanks for the recommendation.

I went to Rivet and Hide over Fitrovia way. Tried on a load of jeans, most of which wouldn't go much over my knees, but ended up with the Momotaro and a pair of Huit.
Helpful people with a good selection but pretty much all £200+
