Denim work shirts. My other half has very generously offered to get me one as a present. Currently looking at Rogue Territory 11oz or Iron Heart 12oz. Is there anything out there that’s cool that I’m missing?

Goes without saying that the only work that this work shirt will see will be of the desk based variety

Really like the look of the Rogue Territory one. More of a classic look that I think will age really well.

My wife wears one most days. We have one from hebtroco and another knock off we made from a Pendleton camp blanket. The Pendleton one is nominally mine and is super warm, the original one is lighter. They are great for general milling around and desk work. But flapping material makes cooking etc rather difficult.

I just splurged on a couple of pairs of those swiss prisoner worktrousers at £11 each from a surplus site. The description said they were ideal for manual work such as rock breaking and tunnelling.

Obviously a wildly subjective question, but how much wear before jeans soften?

Don’t get me wrong, I surreptitiously enjoy the cardboard sandpapering on my goofy while out and about as much as the next man - adds a definite frisson of excitement to my visit to Morrison’s, especially when you get a knowing nod at the self-service checkout - but 7 months in I thought they might be a touch more pliable?

For context they are 14.5oz Unbranded

Have you done a soak? I think the rule of thumb is anywhere between 30 to 50 wears to get totaly nice and soft.

You’re either a denim head or you wash your jeans. I wash mine.

I think I got my Ironhearts in about 2005 and wash 3-4 times a year or when dirty and they haven’t faded in the slightest really.

I reckon I’ve worn them at least 50 times, have soaked them and have washed them cold. Still pretty stiff.

Reckon next step is to thrash them with a stout stick, perhaps beech

APC's do fade well.. they are a great pair of jeans to trash, obviously not great quality, but #sickfadez . Think these have gradually shrunk over time or I've gained weight or are skinnier fit than I remember.

When I get new jeans I'll generally wear them every day and softening starts after a few months. So in reality, 50 wears isn't really much...
