  • I think washing helps.
Fabric stiffness, lack of flexibility, increased friction, proper grim.
I imagine freeze thaw cycles aren't great either for the structural integrity of the cellulose fibres.

  • I might as well just buy topshop or whatever basic bitch black jeans.

H&M black skinny £19.95 ish and wear and wash surprisingly well

  • You didnt wash your jeans for 2 years and youre upset they fell apart. Right.

  • It's probably no coincidence that I stopped wearing posh denim when I got back on the bike, the fit I preferred back then (I was trying to look like a late nineteenth century gold rush bloke) was totally unsuitable for velocipedes (which had probably only just been invented by that time)... A tighter fit works much better, innit...

Great minds. Also, while we're at it I'm done with fancy trainers too.
I'm getting old and have stopped caring about what I wear, so I've moved onto old Fender guitars and interesting watches instead :)

^ Shit middle-aged fixie skidders say...

We all pine for our youth at some point.

  • Open goal...

  • Do you even selvedge?

  • I'm like Gary linekar at his best.

  • jeggings or GTFO

  • I still hanker after some really nice denim as all the selvedge i've ever bought has been nice... but not quite hit the mark in terms of fit. I'll def treat myself if this back-pay i'm owed ever shows up. Bastards.

But yeah, uniqlo skinny stretchy faux selvedge bobbins all the way for cycling, gardening, holding babies and most everyday slumming about. I tend to buy a couple of pairs every few years and rotate them. They fit well actually fade really nicely and have been remarkably hard-wearing.

They just look a bit meh.

  • Patch them up and keep on going.

  • Boot cut jeans back in Gap. Dad jeaning officially legit. You saw it here first folks.

  • Anyone fancy giving an opinion to a noob? Just picked up this Arket pair in the sale for £40 and not sure if I’ve got me a decent deal. I’ve attached the info printed inside, and besides being a little snug on the thighs (will they stretch a tad?) they seem decent.

  • I picked up some Arket selvedge cheap last summer. It’s pretty crispy and lightweight, I was impressed with the fit/feel. Haven’t worn them yet so can’t attest to how they wear mind.

  • most denim will give a little with wear depends how much give you need to feel comfy.
40 quid for a pair of jeans is a good value

  • Quite like Arket stuff. It's H&M's upmarket brand isn't it?

  • Yeah that's the one - always liked the look of it but hadn't been able to justify/afford any til now. Will persist with the slightly tight fit!

  • It's one of them. They have several brands within their group portfolio. https://about.hm.com/en/brands.html

They also own &Other Stories and COS.

  • Any decent denim stores worth checking out in Stockholm?

  • People have heard about this?

  • I bought a shirt from Bramby Supply in Barcelona last year and it rapidly became a favourite item.

Wore it last week when in London but left it behind in the hotel. When i called them it couldn’t be found. Was gutted so ordered an Iron Heart cpo as consolation.

Just had a call, my original shirt has been found. May well keep the replacement too if it fits.

    From losing to winning.

  • I can certainly recommend Iron Heart in terms of quality and (in my case) fit.
I have the UHF and it's great, though some people say that they're too wide at the sweep - not for me.
