    Requiem for a denim head.

This is not a cry for help.

    I’m in control.

    I know my limits.

    Sitting in health class.

    16 years old.

Beasting with 3,000 posts to my name.

    bigwilliesteelo92

    Teachers tried to warn me.

    Fuck you.

    I don’t have a problem.

    You MADD, son?

    Mothers Against Denim Debate.

Bought my first 14oz off some shady sufu kid.

Gave it to me dirt cheap.

    APC.

    The gateway denim.

    It was fun at first.

Just fucking around with my friends.

Seeing how crazy we could get our wallet fades without our rents finding out.

One night my mom found my stash when she was cleaning.

    Some dope proxy ish.

She flipped the fuck out and washed them before I could stop her.

Six months and $200 gone just like that.

    My friends lost interest.

To them it was just about cool stacks and fades to go with their tees and box snapbacks.

    But I was hooked.

It took more and more to get that same feeling.

Started getting into some heavier shit.

    16oz.

    21oz.

    32oz.

    Getting so fucked up.

    Getting so faded.

    Jeans so stiff.

They were the only things keeping me on my feet.

    Eyes bloodshot with selvage lines.

    Shit got bad.

    The night terrors.

Waking up in a cold sweat.

    Sheets dyed with indigo.

One night my bros found me.

    Curled up in the gutter.

    Rubbing sandpaper all over myself.

    Screaming.

    Into the darkness.

    MOMOTARO!

They saw the honeycombs on my legs.

Tried to talk to me about addiction.

    But I don’t have a problem.

    Fuck an intervention.

Stop calling my brothers and sisters.

I call my dick my pussy.

My crotch got so many whiskers.

  • ^ lol sick

  • no, thats the practical side. The principal is they cater for cunts.

Just get some uniqlos Henry, best selvedge on a budget by far.

  • funny, i think they operate on that very same principle too.

    B.

  • Yeah, because Sugar Cane make clothes exclusively for people who aren't utter fucking douchebags.

Also the Selvedge Uniqlos are nice but the denim is thin as hell. I don't mind that myself but be aware of it.

  • Sorry for the OT, but does anyone have a pair of Dickies 874s? Fed up of wearing out my jeans at work and was wondering if they are as tough as they're reputed to be.

  • Grrr stop saying this brand's denim is crap or good; most brands have good denim and shit denim but you need to be specific about exactly which style you are speaking of or else

  • hey selvedge fans - do you always wear turn ups, or do you just bask in the glow of a superior outside seam?

I've a pair i made to shorts a few years ago. don't wear them that much, but they're still going strong.

the fit is a bit weird though, huge thighs and small hem, looks shit on me but great on others

They're tough as fuck but they're also baggy if you're used to wearing more modern cuts. The 873 is the same material but a nicer cut, I'd recommend that if you're set on work trousers.

If not Dickies also do a great chino in an even slimmer cut, can't remember the name, but it's at least as strong as all but the heaviest of my selvedge.

  • Levis for me
They have made some of the most beautiful jeans especially the early LVC.
I have been a collector for nearly 20 years owning more selvedge jeans than I can count. Wrangler and Lee never quite had the same feel when owning even though they have made plenty of nice jeans.
I currently slimmed my collection to about 30 pairs of selvedge jeans. Some fit some don't. it doesn't matter I love them all.
I have to confess I do wear All saints as smart going out jeans. I find it easy to get good fits.
There are plenty of old stock LVC bargains out there if you keep your eye out. Just be prepared to buy and the sell on again when you find the fit is appauling.
Good Levis Vintage can be a great investment.

Nice one. Think I'll give the baggy fellas a go first, I tend to wear regular cut jeans rather than slims.

My Dickie chinos lasted years and looked good for a long time depsite cycling.

A few have mentioned not wearing jeans cycling. Would this still apply if you were using a smooth stripped SLR?

How can you claim to be a massive Levis and selvage denim fan then in the same sentence admit to wearing All Saints as 'smart, going out jeans'??

Like saying you're bang into Colnago, De Rosa and Campy gear then ride Umipak at the weekends!?

  • ^haha so true

@bleakreference can you remember the name of the slim dickies chino's? i've been looking for them but the ones i found come up too wide. cheers

It is a common misconception that denim does not grip well on crabon, I can confirm this is utterly false!

Ha, yep walked into that alright :)
Just saying there are smart jeans and the real jeans. Sometimes even cowboys need to brush up.

Levis might have an incredible heritage but their average pair of their jeans is mass-produced, poorly tailored, ill-fitting, Mexican-made shite. If I had £100 to pick up a pair of raw selvedge I'd go for AS every time. For me the quality of the product is more important than any brand snobbishness.

The chinos are called either GD or C182 - same trousers, different numbers. They're ace tho.

  • No excuse for wearing anything made by All Saints... Ever!

  • The staff ALL look like they've spent the night on a bench. Like bad, unwashed Russell Brand lookalikes.

  • You should know, eh?

  • Er, no. I wash. A lot.

  • Never mind, was referring to Mr Katy Perry and his alleged resemblance to another West Ham fan...

  • I've never donked Katy Perry!

  • You should know, eh?

    hehehe
