Bottom line was 'What would a farmer/miner/etc' do?

    But you're a graphic designer...

  • I grew up in small towns; out there and on the farms where friends lived the washlines were full of all types of clothing, including jeans, every Saturday.

  • I don't remember typing that... It's all true tho'...

  • I'm a bit of a newcomer when it comes to spending more than £40 on a pair of jeans. Should I spend more to get these:

    instead of these:

    If so, why?
Apart from the fact that the former may be too skinny for my mighty thighs?

  • Tom. Don't get either. Have Nudie, would not buy again. Levi's are grim. Are you going to be riding in them? I suggest you go to Uniqlo and get some of their Japanese jeans for £40 which is an absolute bargain, or go to Edwin in Shoreditch and get something from there. Far better value than those Nudies.

  • Uniqlo stopped doing those Jap selvedge though eh?

  • I was going to say "I think JayBeh means UniQlo is better quality/cheaper normal denim than Nudie/Levis"
but then I looked and it looks like they are doing selvedge again:

  • are they Jap denim though - the old ones were and they were £49.99 - great jeans for the money.

  • I got a pair of the uniqlo selvedge the other week. Japanese denim but not made on Japan. The denim is lighter than the old version and much much lighter/softer than the old made in Japan ones.

    For £35 you can't complain

  • Can u selfie?
Would like to see how slim theyy are.

  • Snapchat?

I can potentially do it tonight/tomorrow. They aren't super slim, but as TS had pointed out before I'm built like a streak of piss.

  • I'm just jealous, Ed...

  • Hah! Don't worry, I may just buy some and use their free returns service if need be.

  • Bollocks was in Uniqlo yesterday didn't bother looking at jeans.

Gonna grab some at the weekend.

Tommmmmm you can do better for your buck than those examples: Edwin will last so I'd say go for them

  • Especially if you can get the rainbow 55s around at the moment

  • Seems to be quite a lot of nudie hate on here. I love my pairs, mainly since I their 33W36L fits me perfectly every time. I'm just about to bite the bullet on some of these from them in 13.5 oz Japanese selvege.

Am I making a boo boo?

  • Neither Edwin nor Uniqlo seem to do one in a similar fit and colour to the ones I posted. The only grey Edwin ones seemed to be super skinny.

I will look into it though, thanks for the input guys.

Also JB, living at home and getting promoted is obviously working for you if you're spending £200+ on jeans.

  • Ha!^ They're an investment. I've been wearing the same pair every day for the last two years so I thought I'd treat meself.

Why grey tom, why grey? :-( ED55s are a similar fit I'd say.

  • Dunno about 'relaxed fit', I'm old now, my baggy jeans days are over. Though they do look good in pictures. I will have to go and try some out.

  • Why do all my 100% selvedge jeans go at the crotch within 6months...?

A friend suggested rather than wear them dry pre soaking them helps counter this.

  • Not if sanforised. I believe some people's ass and nut sweat is simply more acidic than others. My ass and nut sweat checks in at pH7 so I have never ever experienced this problem myself....only some bad stitching on some Denhams once.

And Tom...you want grey? The Gustin slate is amazing if you're willing to take a punt and it works out.

  • My nudies blew out after 6 months. I put it down to cycling in them

I like the look of Gustins and how it works. I'll keep my eye out.

  • I wore my Edwins cycling for about 2 years (when cold obvs...) and only had saddle edge marks on the arse from the outsides of a worn, naked SLR. The crutch is fine. maybe I have small ballz...
