But yes, a group of 4 nobodies up the road getting knackered isn't the same to chase down as half the peloton including a lot of very good one day riders.

I wonder if there issues were compounded by lack of radio's. Perhaps Sky GB weren't fully aware of the strength of that breakaway group?

Not a shambles, just a tactic that didn't work. Not terrible tactics either. If other sprint teams had weighed in it would have come back. The aggression of the break paid off - if they'd fucked about they would have been caught.
Vino's race nouse paid off in spades, his ability to read a race has always been top notch - my beef is that he's a cheating cunt and probably won the race off his knockers on CERA EPO and the blood of five year old children.

It's a strategy that has served them (Team Sky / GB) well, and will continue to do so in the grand tours and series racing.

It didn't work in a blue ribbon one day race because it's what everyone else expected them to do.

I do think they should have got a lad in the break - Froome would have been excellent. That way they wouldn't have had to chase like a bastard all day.

Mick Rogers blew his was in the most useless way, In my opinion. You don't just chase a 6min break like that.
