  • I've also printed a couple of route crib sheets which I would like to laminate to avoid the route disintegration we experienced on a recent rain-lashed route to Bournemouth. Anyone local sith a laminator, before.I reach for the Sellotape?

  • I'm considering taking the touring bike so I can use the bar bag with waterproof map/notes holder. Kind of want a triple though, and two bottle cages, neither of which the touring bike has. Hmm.

  • contemplated bar bag - but not sure how I am going to mount my lights if I use it - will try experimenting this evening...

  • I can offer the use of a broken mapholder if anyone wants it. It still works...

Must stop looking at this thread.

  • oh yeah. good point. hmm.

    that'll spoil the fun!

Use magic tape, it works fine.

So I'm going to Scotch 'Magic Tape' it and yes please, I'd like to borrow your perspex fandango Spybot having seen you use it to such great effect on the M25 route planning. Will PM re pick-up.

  • that'll spoil the fun!

Ah Joe! nothing was going to spoil the fun on that Bournemouth ride (except maybe the headwind in New Forest)!

  • I see Fox said upthread he's on this train. But Pete, are you confirmed for Rosie's brekkie breakout?

Er, no, in fact I'm not confirmed for the whole thing, I'm kind of out. I can't really spare most of a weekend to do a ride at the moment and I have no idea how my leg would cope with 100 hilly miles, even on gears. Plus I've done too much messing with my sleep pattern recently. And riding bikes just doesn't seem to be something I do well at the moment :(

Sorry. I should have said this earlier, then you could have had my ticket on the 16.00, especially as it was only £10.

Anyone want a £10 ticket on that train, complete with bike reservation?

  • Michael might, I think ticket was one thing holding him back.

  • I think I've emailed the breakfasters with breakfast information but if you want breakfast and you have no haphazard information let me know.

  • Yeah fox, if you have spare ticket I will gladly buy off you. Failed to get an early one, again.

  • I think I've emailed the breakfasters with breakfast information but if you want breakfast and you have no haphazard information let me know.

I don't seem to have received anything, haphazard or otherwise [/foreveralone]

  • oh dear. I managed to send it to oz and no-one else. Let's try that again...

  • out and out

  • Thought you might be. Good luck.

Anyone who knows Bristol: any pub recommendations for pre-ride?

  • Bristol will be busy as its the Balloon fiesta this weekend.

Pubs/Bars - if the weather is good, then outside the Arnolfini is good and is nicely central with plenty of railings to lock bikes to (top tip - buy drinks from the YHA bar rather than the Arnolfini - its much cheaper and normally no queue). Plus Falafel King just up the road for pre-ride food

    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Arnolfini&safe=on&ie=UTF8&hl=en&view=map&cid=6845675639895249327&iwloc=A&ved=0CDcQpQY&sa=X&ei=FhVFTpuaEIvdjgeL652wDQ

  • I shall contact my old flatmate, see what she has to say! and also remind her that I'm coming. not seen her in ages. will not be at all weird. hmm.

  • What time are people arriving in Bristol?

  • The 4pm - which I think me and 6pt and laner are on, not sure who else - gets in at 17.39 to Temple Meads.

  • I'm aiming to get there about 8, then start riding about 9. I think thats what we did last year.

  • Thought you might be. Good luck.
