how are 45s on open pros?
this is fuckin amazin by the way
-
• #6128
Wouldn't wanna run 45s on a 15 mm internal rim

Even though it might not be advised, you're not gonna die unless you try to run tubeless with silly little pressure. Some years ago there was only narrow mtb rims and it was a-okay.

Only scilly low pressure will caught you out with 45c on 15mm internal.

Narrow mtb rims of the past were still wider than the narrow road rims like the Open Pro

If you wanna run a 45 mm tyre on a 15 mm internal rim that's fine by me but don't expect it to be good. Cornering will suck (Open Pro's are already bad with 32s in my experience) and then there's the possibility (albeit small) of the tyre rolling of the rim. Heck people don't even use 23s on 15 mm internal anymore
tldr it's stupid get another rim

I wouldn't buy narrow rims if i was gonna use 35+mm tires, however if said rims already exists, no reason not to use 'em. Atleast i've never encountered any issues with 42c + open pro combo.

My pomp in commuter mode:
-
• #6135
Hey guys, something a bit different here. I've got a pair of raceface atlas cranks which are designed to fit a 83mm BB, rather than the standard 68-73mm, I have the relevant spacers needed to accomplish this yet I'm worried I've ignored the chainline factor here, anyone know what I need to consider here?
Ps: pomp related as this is for my Pomp SS CX w/flat bars set up :D
Once I've changed the cranks and sorted the freewheel and rear brake, I'll chuck on a pair of cx kings in 35c

Winter guise ... wetness deflectors ... check!
Really nice weekend puddle bashing about town, forgot how much I love this bike. VNT SLX cross fork β 5/5 would recommend to a friend.
FYI Vittoria Criss XN pros (32c) on Open Pro. Seems legit, rides well.

Last week I was rolling along with a bloke chatting about our pomps when another bloke overtook us on a pomp. V2, 3 and 4 all together in one spot in South London.

Pompetamine owners, please weigh in with reports of what rear disc calipers (and rotor size) you have managed to fettle to work well.

Mine has been missplaced by the swedish post :(
I want my Pompetamine dammit.

Depends of the tyre choice, 160mm works well if tire is small enough to slam the wheel. I had 42's and for those you need to take the wheel way back in the dropouts and you'll need 180mm disc because you can't get the caliper back enough.
Had bb7's

Interesting! Thanks.
180mm disc on a 160mm adaptor, or 180 on 180?

I've used bb7, elixir3 and some promax. All with 160mm rotor and adaptor on both large and medium pompetamine. No problems and wheel a good bit back in the track end.
Must have been lucky with the adaptor.
Didn't know a Fatboy could fit
