That clearance look O.K. to me.
As for the spider, again look O.K. but can be filed down a little more to give more clearance.

Yup the nds crank clearance is totally fine now but if I face a millimetre off the nds bb shell then the crank clearance will be borked, that's the point I'm trying to make.
Good point about filing the spider. Makes me nervous though. Extending the dimple on the chainstay seems the sensible option. I get that people DIY it but I think I'd prefer to get it done by a professional.

Can understand why, I've done it in the past and only required a tiny amount of metal to shave off.
Unless @mdcc_tester have some death stories about filing arms.

Considering how much metal I've had milled of Campag Veloce/Mirage UT spiders (and cranks) over the years, I should be dead by now.
The whole reason why Omnomnoms cause trouble is that there is plenty of metal there, they are literally twice the weight of the lightest aluminium cranks

I filed back the spider on my Omniums, took over a mm off, possibly 2. Have been riding them (hard enough to crack a frame) for over a year and had no problems with the cranks

Looks like the new pompetamines are on sale now
-
• #4958
Haven't changed a thing by the looks of it. Not sure I like the new graphics
-
• #4959
It's in the outlet bit so I suspect old stock?
-
• #4960
Yeah I wasn't sure, a friend sent a link saying its the new one. I haven't seen that particular pompetamine decal on the top tube before…

The seat stays are the old wishbone type...
I wonder what's going on.
They usually make a song and dance when a well-loved frame gets revamped.

Only 1 sm and 2 xl for sale so I presume they're getting rid of the last few frames.

So I was in TK Maxx today and saw a bike, figured it would be a heap of shit but decided to take a look. And it was - a V4 pomp in raw. Not amazing spec but ok; Weinmann DP18s on Miche hubs (primatos I think), stronglight cranks, tektro v-brakes + levers, one one post and stem. Essentially very similar to this:
http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/CBOOPOMPKOJ/on-one-pompino-drop-bar-urban-bike
but flat bar.And the price.... £299.99
Anyone else seen this?
-
• #4966
Thanks @Clockwise. Yeah I have one already - pic a long way up there somewhere ^! I'm way too far gone to ever buy a bike off the peg nowadays anyway. Was more just plain surprised to see one in TK Maxx! And thought it was pretty good value.
Not keen on the V4 either, love me some rear wishbones...
-
• #4967
Yeah the wishbones are what make the pomps for me, feel the v4 is boring in comparison to the oldies. Would be cool if they kept them on the pompetamines

I had my chainstay issues sorted by Winston Vaz earlier this week.
Decent price, great care with the work, and he sorted it to fit around my schedule. Highly recommended, not least because it was about the same price as buying a hammer to do it myself.

Replaced those god awful forks! Only got this a couple months ago and it's been a work bike since, the finish is already getting really ratty. Love it though, great fun.

How are those forks with the geo? I was looking at the same ones.

They are sweet, they raise the front a little bit but I can't really feel the difference.
I don't even know what they are, they were just lying around someone else's man cave and I chucked him a tenner..

Does anyone know what is the largest chainring you can fit on a Pompino with a 42-43 mm chainline?
I have Omniums on a Pompetamine too, without any facing or anything. Around 0.5mm to 1mm of clearance between spider and chainstay. Can't see any powdercoat rubbed off at all either, so not touching when flexing.
As said above, why not just bash it with a hammer? Or use some wood and a vice to crimp/ovalise it a little?
