  • Might get some orange for the forks

  • Are you just doing the tubes yeah?

  • will do the whole lot. Will probably rattle can the cable guides and dropouts.

  • Just ordered a black Pompetamine. What's the best bet for a fixed 135mm rear hub with disc?

Not a lot. That is a rare hub. Very expensive phil woods is the only option I think. Maybe a surly one, not sure if it is 135mm though.

Yes it is 135mm, you're in luck!

135mm "fixed" Trials hubs with disc mounts are available:

  • Swapped for some risers & ourys and added green dirty harry. I like teh change ^_^

    1. I want external BB
    2. Sora's are cheap
    3. Sora's are black

If I want external BB with a single ring I either need to fork out for omniums or get some of those shimano alfine cranks - which are a bit pricey most places.

I was going to recommend S300 1.1s, but can't seem to find them for sale anymore

  • yeah you can't get them with GXP bb anymore - only the crappy isis one. Even that is hard to find. Shame. I guess SRAM decided they were eating into their omnium sales.

  • V4 frameset is 149£. Got an email about it yesterday.

    novatec do one! Linky.

//edit: you will need to space out the axel though

  • If you space it on the left, you then need to space your caliper to meet the disc (with all the attendant problems of caliper tabs being loaded in a way they weren't designed for). If you space it on the right, you get a chainline of about 30mm. Basically a terrible idea if you want a 135mm hub, and not even easy to get either, unless you speak Polish. Are Mielec making a lot of 120mm disc frames? That might explain why Polish shops have that Novatec hub when nobody else does.

Alfine are £62.66 delivered from Rosebikes, given that they have single-ring specific chainrings, a snazzy chainguard and a Tiagra BB included, that has to be a premium worth paying over Sora (if it even is a premium, as I don't think Sora includes the BB)

That's what I'm going for. 45T should be plenty, and nicely stealth in black with the chainguard.

Still undecided about the rear hub. I night just SS it for the time being using my Boardman wheelset. I'm hearing some worrying things about clearances for 6-bolt rotors though, which might force my hand.

  • um. Too late. Snaffled some omniums up on ebay for a good price.
    1/8 drivetrain it shall be.

    Won't have lockring threads.

  • Won't have lockring threads.

At least one does (with splines for the cog though...) http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/135mm_fixed_hubs/echo_sl_splined_rear_disc/c21p10583.html

  • Fine without lockring threads if you always use the brake you have attached to the other side.

You should swap the conical washers on your brake pads around, those Vs look a bit daft so wide apart.

  • I'm looking at mudguards again, anyone know if the 45mm TFImports guards that Kinoko sells will fit on a Pomp? I'm running 35c tyres right now but probably gonna drop that down to somewhere between 28 and 32 so I think I'd need the wider version of the TFguards.

  • Yup, they will fit a Pomp.

  • Cheers Ed.

  • Status of Hulsroys modded pompino

  • ^ hmm sliding dropouts, longer wheelbase, higher bb,steeper ht angle, how does it handle?

  • Still slack and soft as pudding ;-)

  • In response to the above fixed 135 hub convo- I bought a solovelo 6 bolt cog and out it on my single speed hub on my day one, no rear brake but easy to sort out.
