  • No Idea about rims, cxp22?

    Something 23mm wide, e.g. Mavic A319 are similar price/quality to CXP22

  • Or Archetypes / TB14s

  • Or Rigida Grizzly, nice and cheap.

  • You must be more flexible than I though skinny, I couldn't manage that saddle to bar drop.

That's sit up and beg for me.

  • Is that a slinky attached to the underside of the middle of the toptube?

  • I'm thinking of getting Kinesis Pure CX forks like JaniS' from the last page, or something cheaper. I guess with 28c and mudguards (for fixed commute). No Idea about rims, cxp22?

I built a rear wheel on On-One double fixed hub and Mavic OpenPro rim. Already had the front wheel. Can fully recommend OpenPro. I'm running 25mm tire width but they can accept 28mm if wanted.

  • Is there any other option for a rack apart from the Topeak Explorer/Super Tourist for a Pompetamine? Blackburn do a disc specific EX-1 but it uses a QR skewer to attach so I'm not keen.

  • Whats your budget like tom? I fitted my tubus Vega on the genesis with no problems once I used the tubus adaptor kit. but that took it over £70

  • Budget is around £40 for a rack I think, I want mudguards too. Tubus is out, the Topeak looks good though, unless there's anything I really should consider I will probably plump for that.

  • Few pics of my pretty much finished pomp.
Still need to fit the front mudguard but other than that it's about done.

Changed from canti's to mini v's and find them miles better.
Plenty of clearance for the chromoplastic P45 which go well with the 32mm tyres .

First time i've used a saddle pack (carradice super c) and it felt a bit weird today but i think i'll get used to it.

  • Nice job, the saddle bag looks great. How did you find fitting the rear mudguard? Is there some way of attaching it to the rear seat stay?

  • There's a mudguard/rack eye at the centre of the wishbone.

  • Ah right, all I noticed was one on the underside, is there a hole on the seat tube side of the wishbone?

  • How did you find fitting the rear mudguard? Is there some way of attaching it to the rear seat stay?

I've fitted front and rear mudguards to my Pompino. The front obviously poses no problem. The rear mudguard is attached to the eyelets at the seatstay/chainstay joint above the dropouts. For the second attachment point I discarded the brake attachment and drilled a small hole in the mudguard in its centre. This hole was located so as to be in the place where the seatstays combine at the top just above the brake bosses. There is a hole in the frame here and it is tapped. I then screwed on the mudguard. It works perfectly. I think I placed a tiny o-ring on the screw between the mudguard and frame to avoid splitting the mudguard as a tightened it up.

  • Three fixing points,

    1. chainstay bridge (by the BB).
    2. underside of wishbone (drill the mudguard).
    3. eyelets on the drop out.

Went on much easier than i expected and is very solid.

  • Yep, forgot the third fixing point: the chainstay bridge as indicated by willo1000.

They will hold - an if 150£ is your budget, then I don't see any real bargain alternatives to the 32spoke sealed bearing Miche.

  • I have these wheels on mine. Same price but 400g lighter than the ones you link to. Done the trick for me so far - I'm using them with 35c tyres.

Halo Aerowarrior would be worth the extra if you want ready built wheels, but you should be able to do Rigida Grizzly on Novatec for less. £45 for hubs, £34 for rims, £30 for spokes, £10 for nipples, and it's a nice easy build to start with even if you don't habitually roll your own.

  • Don't know what they weigh but varno has options from 99 quid to 139. His thread is here: https://www.lfgss.com/thread90468.html

  • But he doesn't have any rims which will work well with 35mm tyres
