  • almost a year. £1000 voucher, £700 on top.

  • take it back

    demand refund

i think their name will be fairly well soiled here if they don't

but a **** and their money are soon parted

(wiganwill does not like me saying people are not too bright)

  • Doesn't stop you though does it?

    I don't believe this story.

  • Well the guy who owns the shop already saw it on ebay. (that expensive yellow Selle saddle was broke). I'm guessing he's reading this too.

  • If all else fail, sell them seperately, the wheelset for instance will still fetch a pretty penny given that they're phil wood with amboriso hubs.

Must ask, why the need to sell it? it look like you've been using it quite a bit.

  • If BLB are taking vouchers as part payment they run the risk of having inclusion in Cyclescheme taken away from them if the wrong people become aware of it.

I work in a bike shop and nearly everyone asks if they can have a £1000+ bike and pay the difference, as such a large percentage of our takings come from vouchers it would be nuts to risk it so we always say no

  • ........

  • almost a year. £1000 voucher, £700 on top.

    .......

  • I am not buying this no-one is this stupid.

Either way it is a shit build with a mix of parts that should not be on the same bike.

No way he paid £1700, avoided nursery by posting it everywhere as he didn't do his research on the classifieds and thought he could make a quick sale to someone. Considering the price and effort people put into their sales this is laughable.

  • My angle, fwiw, Kukusi has a beef with BLB, possibly related to this bike, possibly not, either way he's trying to drag them through the mud and hasn't thought his story through.

Doesn't anyone here work there? Nhatt?

  • Wow.
    I'm also smelling a rat.
What every happened to Harry Major?
Nhatt does not work at BLB.

  • Good lord this thread is amazing.

  • Op should shack up with the chap from the abandoned bikes thread and go into business...

  • Thread got closed las night

    Now reopened

    Carried on via popcorn

  • No way he paid £1700

Why are we so skeptical about the £1700 figure? I'm always shocked by BLB prices.

Yes it sounds stupid, but if the frame was £579 and the wheels £320, that's £900. Leaves £800.

Having had a look at the bits, made some guesstimates, you could easily spend:
    £50 on Miche Supertype
    £90 on yellow SLR
    £30 gold izumi chain
    £35 Dirty Harry's x 2
    £60 Durano x 2
    £25 BLB alloy pedals
    £40 XE quill
    £40 bars
£200 (!!111!!!1) Campag Record skeleton brakes (cheapest pair I can find online is £150!)
£240 Campagnolo Record Pista chainset (£215 on Wiggle)

= £770. I didn't even engineer the prices to be that close. I've not even added hipster tax.

    So £770 + 15% hipster tax = £885

    £885 + £579 + £320 = £1784.

Still think it didn't cost £1700?

Fact is if you throw money at a build it sticks. There's nothing wrong with the quality of the parts, but jeez it's feckin' ugly. A feckin' ugly conversion too.

  • My new name is Prance Philip, in honour of Prince Philip who also likes to blurt out the wildly inappropriate.[/qoute]

[quote=teenslain;1936151]I'm totally having a fat day BTW... Awesome on the Greek thing... He was an excellent polo player, I'm trolled... Problem?

...just the mild racism. Apart from that awesome track stands and his tap out was bare jokes.

  • Doesn't stop you though does it?

    I don't believe this story.

This. No one at the shop would charge this kind of money and then tell you to come sell it here knowing the peeps that exist here.

  • Fox he paid £100 to get it built which would account for the hipster tax

  • So £1600 for the frame, wheels and bits. Bargain...

  • It's just too easy being a hater, and sticking the boot in when everyone else is having a pop. Fair play, it was funny for a while.

    'Caveat emptor'...

How about being a little more constructive; here's the bike. What would you add/remove to make it sweet and worthy of going in the bike porn section? Maybe i'll buy the parts off BLB.

Indeed, anyone even have a clue about what model the frame and forks are? I think it may have been resprayed with new decals put on...

  • NO. It's easy to put in the boot in when you come here without having a clue about what you're doing and trying to charge what you were asking for. TBF You've got off pretty light, the reactions are more shock and sorrow. If you bothered to do some reading....Assuming you are not a troll.

  • Oh, surprisingly, it's no longer for sale. Cut my losses, and at least try and make the most of what it is; a lush frame by Marco Rossin who was the head frame builder at Colnago in the 70s. Will gladly welcome your ideas on inputs on making it right.

  • Cheers multi grooves. The cost was relative, when i put it up there, it was my understanding that is was worth that. Fox tallied up the individual costs above, and it's not quite so shocking. Aesthetics and knowledge for how to build up a custom bike aside, there's still a value to what is there. At least i've more of a clue than i had 12 hours ago, and i'm certainly grateful for that.

  • If you want us to determine whether it's truly a Rossin, then we'd need close-up photos of the seat cluster, the bottom bracket area, the drops and the headtube... basically all end-points of the tubes on the frame.

Most crucially, we'd need a photograph of the underside of the bottom bracket. The serial number should be clear and readable.

With that info, it should be possible to work out what it is.

As for what to change... assuming you like the frame and want to just do little things to make it work as a singlespeed, then I'd swap the bar tape to black first thing... I'm getting conniptions just looking at the photo ;) I'd also swap the stem to one with a steeper angle, the current one looks quite out of place. Those little things would bring the front-end together more, which would help with the looks immediately.

  • Sell the Cranks + Wheels + Brake levers/Callipers which on here you should be able to get around £350-£400 for or try your luck on ebay and probably get more.

Pick up a nice groupset + road wheels and turn the bike into what it deserves to be.
