If I didnt ride to work Id be a lot less fit, and therefore worse at racing. SO, although not training as such, contributes to my fitness and activity levels.

Oh, but what I did learn from this is how much absolute trash people talk about their commute
"yeah, my commute is 40miles a day" "yah, yah, MINE is ten miles each way"I go to the depths of zone 6 every day - the countryside! - and I struggle to put in more than 12miles each way! Forum, I'm calling you out!
Uxbridge - Old Street
18.5 miles each way, do I win yet?

Remember to turn left at the lights and you'll be fine.

I was doing 52 miles a day for a lot of last year, but now I have a 3 mile commute, so I am no longer a contender.

Just got to work and logged in. 2 miles @ 13-15mph. Flushed a little lactate out of the legs. Mmm, nice. [/jazzclub]

I've chopped my commute down recently, catching the train closer to work, then putting in some decent intervals on the remaining leg.
I have dropped 90 miles a week from doing this - after realising that whilst my fitness is very good, its not very functional now for my track ambitions.... -

My training is almost exclusively commuting. 40km total, heavy ass bike. It sorts me right out.
