Ice Watch

Ice patches can sneak up on you when you least expect it, though some spots tend to be more liable to icing over than others.

Post if you've come across any icey patches of road on your daily travels or weekend ride.

I'll start:

Essex: Theydon Mount: Mount Rd: Southside of the hill where it opens up to the fields: Ice accross the road.

30/01/2011 - Toys Hill, Kent: on the left, if riding northwards on steep side.

30/01/2011 - Hogtrough Hill, Kent: both gutters on shallower lower section.

nottingham, alpine road area, was lethal last weekend, can't imagine its changed.
there was still snow on parts of the pavement.

my fridge. think there's something wrong with the thermostat.

Same problem here, a big pool of frozen ice at the bottom and some things at the back that look like snow drifts. And it makes things really cold. Guess we have the same problem.

I doubt any of you will go down this way, but on the south side of the small bridge that crosses the Medway at Teston is (I think) a diesel spill. Had the rear wheel skid sideways about a foot while doing approx 25mph earlier. God knows how I didn't stack it.

Just put some our cars as we live at 265m....they're really good on ice and snow better than the chains we've used the last few winters.

Edit: that's one of the videos that convinced me to spend all that money.

Great on snow and ice yes. I've had a pair for the last couple of years waiting in the garage until we have enough snow that isn't cleared to use them.

There is a nasty patch of black ice on Wilton Way in Hackney due to a broken water pipe.

Only just left the house, turned at the end of the road and wallop - back ends kicks out and I'm on my arse, bike nearly went under a car, missed by a few cm's

Shook me up a little and my arse still hurts!
