Also... would have been in but for the stench of unexplainable geared hatred wafting up from this thread.
It has been explained and at the end of the day it's John Mack's ride and if he's going to the effort of leading/organising than it's really up to him, eh?

Quick question, is there's a pub en-route? I mean somewhere to stop for lunch? so I can decided to make sandwiches and such.
Almost certainly won't be any pubs anywhere on the way. Definitely make sandwiches, Cheese and Pickle would be best, and perhaps a couple of bags of Monster Munch too. On the off-chance I'm mistaken about the pub situation I'll help dispose of them.

Flapjacks made, as per tradition.

so: a brilliant ride to the coast, topped beautifully by a smirky eviction from the Wetherspoons at Cloaca-on-Sea because we were eating foreign chips on their patio.
a number of dubious facts emerged, including: things people get up to in cranes, what the header does on a combine harvester, cloud formations (regular and otherwise), and extreme tattooing.
great to meet a lot of you for the first time. thanks to John for the lead out. and roll on Upstart with the roll call.
pictures will follow (once i manage to summon the energy to dig the camera out of the bottom of my bag). it seems Badger Lady will have to wait a few more hours for her moment of fame....but the wait will be worth it...

sorry for flaking. had a busy week, racked up quite a sleep debt, and the clincher was the guinness ride on friday night. hope you all had a great ride :)

Also... would have been in but for the stench of unexplainable geared hatred wafting up from this thread.
First they excluded the mountain bikers, and I said nothing because I didn't have a mountain bike.
Then they excluded the hybrid riders, and I said nothing because I didn't have a hybrid.
Then they excluded the road bikers, and I said nothing because I didn't have a road bike.
Then they excluded the brakless™ fixed-wheel bicycles with awesome lacquer jobs and miss-matched florescent deep-section wheel-sets and I was all like, 'fuck' and decided to sit at home bitching on peoples threads and looking at funny pictures on FGSS.Great ride, probably be default mode from now on.

Great ride. Cheers John for leading. Good to meet you all. I hurt now but it was so worth it.

John, I really enjoyed the ride, and thank you all for making Jana (girl on the black/white BLB singlespeed) feel very welcome.
incidentally we did actually pass an excellent pub en-route that have home made ketchup which is out of this world as well as delicious massive chip, I been there with the Deepest Darkest Essex group following almost identical route as your ride until Hanningfield (DDE went to Bradwell-on-sea).

Great ride, thanks John for leading.
Had to get the early train back but was delayed by an hour.... Could've stayed for a few beers after all.

Lovely day yesterday, Anna and I thoroughly enjoyed our run to the sun with you all and it was good to put names to faces, though I've forgotten who everyone was already.
Ed - Jana looked very similar to a girl I've not seen for about 10 years also called Jana, this required careful probing to ensure that she wasn't my ex-colleague. She wasn't, so there was no need to apologise for breaking her 'It's My Birthday' cup.
Many thanks to John for organising and to everyone for making us feel welcome on our first ride out with LFGSS.

And saved a bit using groupsave too! we arrived sometime after 8pm.
Who took a photo of me doing an aerodynamic experiment??
Jana would've been a teenager 10 years ago, I'm sure that must've tipped the alarm bell! great meeting you guys though, especially bringing your 1+ whom seemed to enjoyed the ride.
Would have loved this but gonna take advantage of track before season's over. Enjoy!
