@ Nige good pics. love the top one!
@ ash rides happen every week, multiple times a week. do you mean how often do people come your way?
Well, what can I add to what's be said already? (Certainly not my Garmin data as I can't work out how to embed it - @shambolic - how do you do that?)
+1 to what everyone's said about the company, route, chips, views, and local guides. Great work on the hills, and good calling out of cars, potholes ... run-over foxes, weather, cricket matches ...
Car up! ... oh wait, that's the wind ...

Laner...you made it?! DIdn't you leave my party at about 4am?!

I passed you all coming down hill out of Cobham. I apologise for not saying hello to anyone, I was suprised to see so many bikes on my local roads and wasn't aware there was a forum ride, though I'm sure I just looked like I was working on my holier than thou roadie persona.
Hope everyone had a good ride. -

Certainly my favourite moment of the day, closely followed by the comments about how the mullet was clearly in fashion throughout Kent.

There was a beautiful example in that shop just before Herne Bay, very chic.

wow, what an amazing day, we were very lucky with the weather, it was perfect.
The hot bath on my return was well needed and I slept/ went into a coma instantly!

lovely meeting everyone, and Anton thanks for the interesting and in depth conversation on the train back!

a bit late but I've been distracted the past few days with some little riots going on.... ANYway, Sunday was an absolutely brilliant ride! We could've done with fewer punctures, but the weather, scenery and company made up for it.
@tudor badger - great to see you again too!
@city gent and anton & friends - cheers for sticking around for beers
and it was great to meet all the rest of you.... here are my pics...

ah, more great pictures. thanks for sharing.
@ KT Bee - the forum is setup to automatically embed the garmin map. you just paste in the url from the Activity page on Garmin Connect and it should do the rest.agree these riots have been a little distracting. here's what was happening down the end of my street last night...

Nice one people!
I should probably start a new thread, eh? NB I am not offering to lead as my sense of direction is poor and we'd get hideously lost and end up going quite slow if I'm not pushed a bit.
Am happy to assist though.

here's some garmin goodness (aside from the long straight line across chatham, where i forgot to turn it back on)
That thing looked pretty useful, I am considering a purchase.
But I dont have a clue about how they work. I've tried programming in a route on Ovi Maps for my mobile phone - a ridiculous amount of time for a small job, you have to type in the check points along the way, rather than just click along a map, Nokia's applications are shit, no wonder people are deserting them in droves. How much was your Garmin, does it come with some sort of handlebar mount?
Do you need to pay some sort of subscrption, or once you buy it, thats it?
Can you pick your points on a map on a PC and then upload it to the device? Is it easy? Thanks very much...

Hey Badger Boy, me, ms.chris, and a non-formenger are cycling to Oxford on Saturday morning, leaving from Richmond at around 9am. Pace will be pretty chilled, no faster or slower than the ride to Herne Bay. Pints and food at the end, then choo choo home. Four people = group saver! Let us know if you're interested, you're more than welcome.

Really like the photo of paul in the long grass :)

Thank you all that came on this ride, especially the locals that helped drive us through that conurbation that is Rochester, Gillingham, Chatham.
It was an altogether wicked day, any rain shower was quickly over, any puncture rapidly repaired.
The temperature perfect for cycling and it really warmed up for lounging at Herne Bay.The food at the end was great and so was the last leg on the Viking trail.
Fair warning, next year will be fixed/single speed-only.
(Had to wait a week for net to get turned on in the new house..)

I am not going to get into that here, it was a good ride.
