hey guys,

After making a batch of mallets with the sides drilled out, i have realised it takes way too freakin long! It's too time consuming, so now i will only be making heads with drilled caps/solid caps but no drilled sides. I will still pilot for the ski pole, so please ask me not to do this if you have a weird way of mounting the head.

ok so this is the last 5 i have, i need to order more material

Working properly for 2 weeks. I will need a longer one, 14cm? can it be? one side capped. How much for the shipping to Barna?

Yep can do a longer one no problem. All out of material, so i need to order some more.

I've been pricing it up, i was thinking about ordering some UHMW-PE (same stuff as the mke heads) which is much harder wearing. However, it's a lot more expensive than the HDPE. If i were to make them with UHMW, the price would have to go up, maybe £7 for a single capped head, what do people think?

Also, are people concerned with being able to remove the cap? or do you just scrap the head once its worn?

The one that i'm using is hard enough for me, but I dont play in any rough court.

removable caps are good but normally the open end of the mallet gets knackered before the capped size so unless it's double capped (or someone works out how to make the open end more durable) don't think removable is too important.

£7 sounds more than reasonable considering to order from MKE John was saying we'd be looking at probably twice that per head, plus id rather buy from you, keep it grass roots innit etc.

Removable is kinda more important if the HDPE pipe wears at the open end, then you can put the end-cap in a new head.

I never use the open end really... capped end always wears through for me (2 weeks for 3mm, 4 weeks for 5mm)?

It all comes down to cost versus durability. I'd buy a £7 head if it lasted 140% longer than the £5 head, etc.
