Cambridge, I just read the rules, can you clarify something for me:
If the ball is shuffled into the goal by the offensive team, the defensive team gets possession of the ball.
How are you defining possession in this case? Is it enough for the ball to touch a defensive players mallet in any form? Do they have to have possession for a certain amount of time? Does the offensive team have to back off? What I'm asking is what the offensive team are obliged to do in that situation.

I guess the offensive team would have to at least retreat from the defender's d, if not to their own half.
Cambridge?

i would read that as: Ball turnover, so yes the offensive team would have to "back off"
just how i interpret it though, could be wrong

i think offensive team should return to their half. then think about what they have done. then play should resume.

Offensive team leave the D, play resumes once ball has been retrieved from the net and taken outside the D.

The format will be group stages on the Saturday , followed by eliminations on Sunday . We are not intending to let sunday's play to go on too late in the afternoon . There is an outdoor throw in court not too far away for throw ins too , for those not playing sunday .

hey could we have some clarification of the timetable for this, not sure if I will be coming to Cambridge for each day of play or staying in Cambridge. If going to and from Cambridge each day then I/we would like to book our tickets asap to get them cheap.
thanks
really looking forward to this one

PM "Types" aka Boagey.
I'm guessing things may run late due to unforeseen circumstances . We were hoping Cosmic would get wasted on saturday night . -

Well, we have 31/32 teams registered to play. We want to get games completed on Saturday so that we're left with the top 16 for Sunday, for a mornings worth of elimination games to decide the winner around lunch time.
If we start at 11am on Saturday, we probably won't be done until the absolute latest 11pm, that's before thinking about games/times/formats (to be done I know, we are working on it). You could book the last train back to London KX or LS on Saturday night (11:15pm from memory?) and be confident you'll have finished all your games. The ride to the station is pretty short and easy.
Alternatively we could put you somewhere the night. Let me know... There is a list of people who want a floor/bed and i'm trying to sort it for these people, but we're low on space. The warehouse is open to anyone to sleep in and we don't need you to confirm this, just make sure you bring enough stuff so that you're comfortable.
More info will follow soon, we're new to formats for so many teams and we want it to be right before committing to a mail out.

As far as I know there are no cheap advance tickets london-cambridge. Don't know why, but they're always the same, just peak and off-peak (and super off-peak).
It is in the network railcard zone though - gets you 1/3 off for up to 4 people but you have to travel together. One person gets the card £25 for a year. You can't use it before 10am on weekdays, but you won't get your bike on a train before 9 anyway. The minimum fare on weekdays is £13. Watch out if you're getting returns - you do need to be travelling together!
At weekends the Liverpool St train is cheapest - look for the super off-peak NXEA only option, but it is slower than the Kings Cross line. If you have a railcard a day return is only £10.
Just to confuse you, there is no such thing as an off-peak single. It's a peak single or an off-peak day return. The ticket people never bother to explain that. But if you aren't coming up on friday it's not relevant.
(I don't work for national rail honest! I just take the train a lot... )
