On swept back bars long levers are ideal; vo klunker
Duty lol

Wtf are these connectors good for, can I just get rid of them and run uninterrupted hoses from lever to caliper? Or will I fuxxor something at the lever end? Shimano road levers.

They're good for when the bike is new but the levers are set up for forruns or maniacs, easy swap, otherwise they're in no way needed but are kind of pricey to get rid of for no real benefit.

pricey to get rid of
In what way? I need new hoses anyway as the ones on the brakes are too short.

Then not pricey at all.

Why not MT200?

a combo thats sold on aliexpress, I had no choice

Not much of a savings even on RRP, peace of mind is surely worth more than that...
-
• #7235
If peace of mind was available through lower tear Shimano brakes then I'd be much less of a fucking wreak.

Please do share why MT200 makes you cry? ;)

Keep getting that giant lever stuck in my eye.

Just bought some clarks clout post mount calipers to go on a caadx commuter conversion. The calipers wont reach the post mounts with 160 rotors, there's a gap of about 10-15mm. What am I doing wrong ? Do I need some kind of spacer ? Calipers came with 160 rotors so seems strange that they don't reach the frame. The only adapters they came with are I.S. ones.

The frame will be designed for a 140 rotor so you need a post mount +20mm adapter.

Or bodge with whatever you have to hand until you get one.

Cheers just found some post mount to post mount adapters, just need to find some longer bolts !

It was only when braking, plenty of clearance. I had already cleaned rotors with iso and sanded pads. Realignment seems to have got rid of the clicking noise, just back to a "contaminated" sound so maybe new pads in the future or a long ride through the mud. Thanks to you and @coventry_eagle for the replies!

I just want to say fuck you shimano for making your road hydro levers need a differently threaded bleed thing thereby rendering my regular bleed kit useless and now I can’t use my favourite bike to get to work tomorrow.
-
• #7244
Yup, plus one to this and to changing the compression nut to the flanged one.
-
• #7245
One of the few real advantages of R785 levers other than the price - they don't use the adaptors.
-
• #7246
Your LBS will have a million adaptors knocking about, they come with most bikes with shimano brakes on and most shimano brakes that need them.
-
• #7247
No doubt, but so few of them are open on Sunday nights...

Btw if anyone is after a pair of flat mount shimano brakes I have some tiagras spare as the frame has IS mounts. No idea how Brexit affects small parcels from the EU but they seem to be around £45 each new (quick google earlier, happy to be corrected) I’d take £40 + postage for the pair. Apologies if I shouldn’t have asked here, will make a proper classifieds ad if so.

Hydraulic brake hoses for Shimano road disc, any less spendy options out there than the official Shimano ones that won't lead to catastrophic death?
-
• #7250
Hey shing! Yes there are cheaper ones for sure! I'll fish out the link to the ones I bought, I got some sold by length that worked out much cheaper than the shimano kits in blue packaging.
And you wonder why I hate you
