I don't have any hoses, the groupset is not new. I'll buy BH90 if that's what I'm supposed to have
-
• #6753
That is a bit expensive. I'd be more inclined to source a flat mount fork to use my existing brakes if I needed to spend £100 on one caliper

What about Hope? Play well with Shimano? Do they leak? Do they work?
-
• #6755
I put Hope RX4 (Sram FM FWIW) on my Bowman. Work really well. Prefer them to the R8070 setup on my cross bikes.

Yeah RX4s are great. Replaced my shimano calipers with them once the o-ring failed.

Cracking. I wanted to buy a set of flat mount RX4s anyway so I could buy one flat, one post and just replace the post mount one when I move the groupset to a new frame.
Do they require anything different in terms of hose fittings than Shimano brakes?
I know absolutely nothing about hydraulic brakes.
If I buy those calipers and have 8070 levers, what do I need to buy to have them working? -

This is exactly what I did. I think they come with the fitting hardware, but there's proprietary Hope tools you'll need to fit them so I just threw them at my LBS.

They come with all the olives and bits and bobs (and two sets of pads!), bleed blocks etc. to fit straight to the relevant hose and bleed kit. Follow Hope's youtube video and it's easy if not quick the first time.

What were the proprietary tools required?

eurgh
My only LBS is still closed. They may be open by appointment though.
I'd like to fit them myself if possible. I'll look into it -
• #6763
I guess I'll order and see what it comes with.
They fit the Shimano BH90 hose? Are there any tarty braided hoses available? I know there's no benefit
-
• #6764
Bleed kits aren't proprietary to Hope? They use whichever is required for the lever and connect to the lever brand's hose. So if you already have a shimano road bleed kit with funnel etc that's all you need.

I'm not very good with bleeding brakes so that could be entirely correct, but is there not something that threads into the caliper?

Thanks again to everyone in here that convinced me I wont die using BB7s.
Installed with Jagwire keb sl and some Shimano levers they worked on my first little ride in Grunewald.
Very nice bite point once I used them a bit, feel as good or better than my Shimano 615.
Front started to chirp a bit, but as I rode around with loose bearings in my front hub I am not sure yet its the brakes fault.
Installing was okay, had to turn the inner pads in a bit more than a quarter turn.
Will see how the relationship develops, but we had a good start. -

For some reason I read OP groupset as R785... lol!

Ah my universal kit syringe came with that screwer inner piece but perhaps not all do.
I was going to get a shop to do mine and also my shimano setup but the wait list was so long I bit the bullet. Never even done a proper bleed before but it was pretty simple job and I haven't died yet....

You could try and see if a flat to post mount adaptor would work? Print one out and check?

With postage from Canada that comes to about 35 pound and for 15 more I can get a fancy Hope brake. A matching rear to which I was going to buy anyway
-
• #6771
But after all this, I may just buy the flat mount pair and a chinese carbon fork...

I emailed hope on this. They confirmed they work with the BH90 and BH59

Black or Silver?

Purple
otherwise black

Current frame will be yellow, next one may be pink. Purple is a bit clashy for my tastes
R8000 level stuff all comes with BH90.
