Buy Shimano

This was probably the problem, it works fine now!

Looks like Jagwire only sell "quick fit" hose connectors for eTap and S900 SRAM road. Neither of those will work for Apex1, right? SRAM hoses are $40 each :(
-
• #6131
Tried looking for Avid (or Avid compatible kits?
-
• #6132
Is Avid (which one?) the same as regular non-eTap SRAM HRD? Looking at https://jagwire.com/products/hydraulic-hose/mountain-pro-quick-fit-adaptor-kits
-

They are the same company, depending on the model, parts could be used interchangeably to some degree.
There's one kit listed for Red and S900 so I guess this would work?
-
• #6134
Think the red version is your best bet. Keep us updated on how you get on!

Yeesh, much google image searching later.. looks like the non-eTap connector has this angled banjo, not inline with the hose end eg

None of the Jagwire kits match - thought the HFA207 was close at first. The hose currently connected has those connectamajig things but I don't have the other (male) side and they're OEM only so again, back to square one. I don't need this build until Spring so plenty of time to keep an eye out for discounted full sram hose.
Thanks for the suggestions folks.

Got a photo of the current fittings? Connectamajig can be used retrospectively and the Jagwire kit comes with them too, albeit the generic version and not with the red olive ...

There's about 10" of hose on the levers right now, terminating in one of these SRAM hydro quick connectors.

Anyone know what post mount caliper I can use with 7020 levers? Information online seems mixed. Possibly the m7000 with a different hose?

7020 levers
Any with the same size piston : so basically all of them (22mm white piston, not the old black/aluminium ones)

Cool, so m7000 should work? I thought I'd read they'd changed the ratio for activation (or words to that effect) for the 7020/8020; is that bollocks?
Touch wood, I've actually sorted out the hy/rd I had given up on. A new cable and very careful rethreading of cable outer so as not to kink it seems to have made it work loads better. -

link?

Some forum somewhere, it was to do with the travel on the levers, which is apparently much better on the new model. It was possibly just one post by one person though so maybe not reliable

Can anyone tell me the technical term for the bolt that goes through the frame into the adapter/caliper? Picture here.
edit: looks like it's just called a 'Mounting Bolt For Flat Mount', e.g.

Are the TRP Hy/Rd a worthwhile upgrade? Struggling to find a decent CX/gravel bike second hand within budget because I’ve found mechanical discs to be shite on the odd time I’ve used them on borrowed bikes etc.
But I reckon I can buy a bike with mechanical discs and upgrade to the hydro callipers just about with budget.
Read a few reviews that say I’ll need compressionless outers. Is that correct?

• #6146
Yes quality compassionless is mandatory really.
I never used the Hy/Rd but found the Juin Tech brakes to be a step up from Spyres.
-
• #6147
Spyres and yokozuna housing are excellent and very powerful when correctly set up. But being cables they don't auto adjust so if you ride a lot you will have to dial the pads in every now and then to keep them feeling that way
-
• #6148
Hy/Rd are dicks, get juintech. Much better, less faff and don't look as shit.
-
• #6149
Compassion definitely ruins the feel of it.

Hah
System is closed off so you are probably pulling in air from the connection on the caliper syringe
(so system could be bubble free)
