  • Jagwire xl complete set in the box and i them had to buy an extra length of outer because lynskey has it all the way pegged on the outside . That was annoying. Just search online like bills bikes.

3 mtrs of brake outer only

  • Find an LBS with a Moore Large account (most of them) and ask them to order in one of the 10m reels of KEB outer. It's £28 trade so maybe offer them that for half of it, although I've just checked their website and black is out of stock until 30/11.

  • um, I have an Avid Elixir brake on my polo bike which is lovely, but i want to trim the hose. Can I use any olive and barb, or does it need to be an Avid one?

  • Get the avid ones. Different brakes have different size hoses. Shimano even have two different barb sizes.

  • thanks, what about olive sizes? are they more standard?

  • Y u no ask polo thread? ;)

  • Hope E4 & X2, Tech 3 levers.

The pads are running so close to the rotors that they're rubbing, albeit lightly: the wheels still spin briefly but you can hear the pads rubbing.

It appears that the pads aren't retracting when the lever is released.

    Everything is brand new.

    Will a bleed improve things?

  • Messed with the bite point adjust?

  • Out of the box, it was fully wound out.

I've just tried winding it in and didn't see any difference.

I assumed "out" would give the most clearance.

  • Hope E4 & X2, Tech 3 levers.

Try fiddling with the reach adjustments as well, Wind it out so there as max reach.

  • Changing the bite point control or the reach changes the shape of the lever - it doesn't effect the placement of the piston * and has no effect on the position of the pads.

    * well, maybe .5mm

  • I've not played with new hopes properly. Probably squeezed the lever without a rotor and the pads adjusted. Pop them out and reset the pistons.

  • Are disc brakes supposed to be really noisy when it rains? Also mine didn't seem to be that great in the rain tonight?

  • Not really, cable pull disc brakes are more prone to this (especially the single sided one).

Performance should remain the same, or near identical.

  • I think it depends on the pads? I think sintered are significantly worse in the wet which is a compromise made for the longer life of the pads

  • Wut lul.

  • Rain will introduce more contaminants to the pads. Grit can wear them down very fast, and if shit like diesel gets splashed on to your pads then you're screwed.

  • Mine are.

Sintered/metal pads are much noisier than resin

  • All you who told me to avoid cable discs...
well let me tell you, I bought a pinnacle. And it has bb7. And I can do endos like a trials bike. Yes they don’t have fantastic modulation but they stop me on a dime. Which is what counts really

  • Of course they stop. Now. But wait until your cables are stretched, rusty and full of road grit :)

  • Full outers though. Pads I think will let me down. I didn't replace my pads nearly often enough on rim brakes

  • When they work they are fine. The problem is it becomes a full time job keeping them in full working order.

Ain’t nobody got time for that.
