i totally understand how amputation seems mad to most people. but if you think about it in the same region as transexuals. sometimes people just don't feel right in their bodies and have to change it to make them feel right outside as they do inside.
It's only society that distinguishes boob jobs as okay, but amputation as a mental illness.
I would suggest that you are linking two procedures which are very different and holding them up as one thing for comparison here.
A boob job is now a routine, elective and reversible procedure.
An amputation is usually the last resort, a result of an accident or serious illness, and is not reversible.

Ti would be bloody expensive and difficult to find

be carefull with stainless steel, 316l grading is ok for piercings, but any lower grades can have alot of nickel in them which can annoy piercings.

That's true, the boob job/amputation comparison isn't a great one - a better comparison would be a piercing, or if you wanted to go entirely accurately, a subdermal implant.
But the transexual/amputation one is perfectly accurate.

It would be nice to see it on modblog if i trusted rob to credit you, yourself.I take it he's heading down the old school maori route and will get that inked once it's healed?

If you said that it was only society that distinguished WANTING a boob job as ok and WANTING an amputation as a mental illness I could see your point.
Doing these things to ones self is a different matter though.

Depends on your culture. There are many more extreme modifications carried out on a regular basis in other countries. Just because it isn't seen as normal here doesn't mean it's fucked up
-

any as visibly apparant as that, tho? some cultures practice deliberate inbreeding .. can't just brush that off as 'their thing' buddy, gotta draw the line somewhere, n'est-ce pas.

Surely the reaction of other people is the only thing that defines the boundaries of where "extreme" becomes "too far", "fucked up" or "retarded".
Once you get to the stage where major facial scarification is the next step you are well past caring about how your appearance will affect your close relationships with people like your family, your employment prospects etc. You either have those things sorted out or can afford to/have decided to disregard them.
Nobody however can disregard the need to interact with people you have never met before on an almost daily basis in order to live your life. I could imagine that facial scarification on that level could make it hard to live a normal life because of these people's reaction to you.

But you will always look like an extra from a cheap sci Fi series.

Had a bit of a play today with a spare bit of bar I had.
Still a tiny bit long, might shorten it again. The threads were easy enough to make

^thats a pretty good effort, project bars can be a pain to bend and get fitting in th entry and exit properly. Well done.

I ended up electrical tape route.Yay! Also, after a couple of weeks or so, if you're wanting to stretch them up more, sleep with them out at night, and put them in the morning with vit e/jobaba oil or emu, it lets your ears breathe, and build up more collagen. Also = more stretchy ears! :)

Pretty sure his scarring will fade like you can faintly see two white lines near the jaw/ear.
That IMO isn't extreme. The pain itself and the healing, maybe. But when it looks like white tattoos in the end....However if he was to get those scars keloid/raise, then yeah extreme to me.

I met the above guy a while back, cannot for the life of me remember his name but he was talking about having the saya gata cutting, i am glad he did because personaly I think it looks great and really suits the other work he has. However, I do hope he does not make them into raised scars as I think it would look too extreme and also may make it spread and not be as defined. I have a couple of scarification pieces and plan on having cutting done over large black sections (cover ups) on my arms. Looking forwards to the finished area but not looking forwards to getting it done. Ouch

I was thinking that, it would look better if it was faded/white scars. I'm most probably going to have some scarification done on my chest, but not sure how Id like the end result to be. I have a horrid scar there from when Samppa did my heart implant.
Boyfriend has right tattooed black arm, and is having branding done by Quentin sometime.I'm with lpg... That bloke is a fucken mess.
Each to their own, but I doubt he's worried about your thoughts.

Isn't stretching lobes all a bit teenaged? Smelly, too.
Plus no one holds a candle to this legend
