I ride brakkkkkless in london. started when i broke my old brake caliper so took it off until I got a new one.
That was** 7 months ago and i still have the same marathon plus tyre on the back** and spinny gear and havnt had any crashes where as I had a few when I still had brakes.
I see nothing wrong with riding brakeless on forum rides as long as you dont crash or make a wank out of yourself.wow. i went through to the cloth in about 2 months on my last maraton plus :(
(and i have maximum # of skid patches for my cog, 18, so all around)ohhhh WHO WAS THE BLONDIE LADY with blue jacket, rainbowishhhh skirt with a cycling hat full of pirate skulls? please please.... WHERE DID U BOUGTH THAT HAT!!! i want it...i need it...ill eat glass for it! ill superglued my ears in to my nostrils for it! ill ride saddle-less for it to brighton and back! just to know where u bough it!
i have one for sale just like it. collect from brighton. yours for £1.50 if you ride there without a saddle!

Hee hee! I think I know who that was...ms. chris? I didn't really see if it had skulls on it, but she deffo had a blue jacket and a rainbowish skirt and I'm fairly confident it was a cinelli cap!

i expect the guinness ride to stay all together, cause we're going to a few pubs and the rides between will be <5miles i think. i went along on saturday wanting a swift ride and i loved it. but the guinness ride is all about the chat i think
@OLC, spot on. The Guinness Ride is a relaxed, compatriots ride around a few pubs in central London. I have been really pleased in the past, with how the squad has kept together, with a couple of pathfinders to the front, and back markers to assist anyone who is struggling.
There is enough competition and petty rivalries in the rest of our lives, without bringing them on a forum ride.
Ohh, and bring a few bob for a spoke card, all proceeds, over production costs, being donated to our beloved forum.
Slainte....

(and i have maximum # of skid patches for my cog, 18, so all around)Yea they can be a bit hit and miss. sumo had one and went though it very quickly although mine seems to have lasted and is wearing down surprisingly evenly.
Just got down to the blue puncture protection layer so maybe a change is on the cards soonish.
Perhaps my chris hoy legs mean I can slow down without having to skid! -

no you have ages left on the blue. mine was blue all round for a while. it's probably me being lazy and skidding all the time.
i'll stop spamming this thread with tyre talk now!

I disagree, there's plenty of life left in this tread - I'm non-folding.

Well, I apologise for derailing this thread with tyre-related puns. I blame my low trolling resistance.

The only person who's name i can remember from this is Dmi3. Who else apart from me, white jacket, is in this group?

yes that's me. good eye poots, it is a cinelli hat. I hate to disappoint you bearfoot, they're not skulls. (very often mistaken for skulls though) It's a group of riders from the back. And you also probably can't buy it anywhere either ... it's was a special edition cap for the BFF (bicycle film festival) 2008. you could try their website though... http://www.bicyclefilmfestival.com/

1st Rule of Marathon ride. Don't talk about Marathon ride.

It's really not worth the hassle.

I'm not prepared to run the risk of getting skinned alive and buggered just for riding my bike.
