Excellent thread, well timed as I'm currently working out how to specify the lugs for a new project.

Also, that Indy Fab bike with the crown-shaped lugs? Isn't that carbon with titanium bits?

Demon cycles have some seriously inspiring work.

It think these lugs (300 series) are my new favourite, maybe not with these nausea inducing colours tho.

A Jump bike, with lugging.
"A lugged head tube, which does away with the need for unattractive gussets. This spreads the load over a much larger area"

And this is how cast lugs are made:

http://i495.photobucket.com/albums/rr314/jimr2527/scan0006.jpgSome great links there Rowan. It would seem that those Hetchins lugs are the real deal. While other builders may have beaten them over the years for ornateness, when you consider the pressed lug material that they started with it really puts the time and effort that went into achieving that finished product into perspective.

It is very nice indeed, the way the point of the lug follows the contour of the seatpost which is inserted at the optimally aesthetically pleasing level is very very pretty.
