Cheers man! I've got to see another Dr soon so we'll see what he says. With any luck, it'll be on the mend for the DD.

  • Ah man hope your ok.

  • glad you're ok and great story

'and I was enjoying being able to hear bird song and silence, instead of car horns and sirens'

  • still got no feeling in the tip.

    Saddle angle?

  • I did that with a disc break rotor and my little finger... when the doctor pulled my nail out was the only bit that got too mee to, was totally numbed but the visual is gut wrenching lol. heal soon!

  • ^ Yeah, I couldn't watch that bit. Apparently there's no "nice" way of pulling out a finger nail... Who knew? Haha.

Thanks for the well wishing everyone. Find out on Thursday how it's healing, so fingers crossed till then...

  • Interesting and fun read, then "..sprocket had gone through my fingernail like butter on a hot day, and sliced the nail from side to side..." .

    No thanks.

  • ^ Oof! Good effort! How did it heal? Is it ok now?

  • my eyes are watering

I had chopped straight through the nail bed, through the bone, it stopped short of going through my finger tip. I had to have plastic surgery to put it back together because it was a nail bed injury.

It was pretty gross, I got to see the bone when they were cleaning it out. It healed up okay after surgery, it took about a year for my nail to grow back fully and I still have no feeling in the very tip of my finger.

also, after some digging I found a post op picture. They stitched my nail back on just to protect the stitches in my nail bed, it eventually fell off which was nice.

I hope yours heals up good. I bet you wont do it again aha.

  • ^same apparently its really important to fix the nail bed

  • Read it but didn't click it. My arms feel all tingly just imagining it.

  • Ah wicked, I've always wanted plastic surgery... Or not. All the nurses were giving me funny looks cos I kept taking pics, but I figured, I'm not gunna do this again, so I want to document the event.

Mule, that video is awesome, is it fixed now?

  • yeah, hardly even a mark now, its amazing who many time you tap the tip of your finger against things and normally don't notice

  • Took the end of my left hand index finger off with an electric planner a while back no useable bits left to stitch back but it did grow back.

  • To anybody that expressed an interest, stitches out today and all healing well. Gunna have a killer scar too.

  • Initially but the scar will go soon unless you got oil in it

  • Balls.

  • Yeah, I've barely got a scar
